I got a flyer the other day from Academy and this was the first time I saw that they had a stand and fill type feeder that holds over 700lbs that has the feeder plates and no cages around the feeder plates. Looks like they are trying to capture some of that market. No comment about the feeder but I am surprised they have one with what I call the new technology with feeder plates. Just an fyi

And on skids. Good for them for keeping up with the times. Can’t say that about most “sporting goods” stores these days

Looks pretty good. I have two of their stand and fill previous versions- with the full width varmint cage. They are coon-proof, but the time it takes to put one together is ridiculous- never seen so many nuts and bolts. This one looks like may be worth a try- simpler to put together but the gap on the feeder plate might be a bit too wide. I'd like to check one out in person.

It may be coon proof, but what about squirrel proof? That does look like a bit too big of a gap and potentially let a squirrel get in there. I need to go let my boy get on some squirrels this year. We're covered up in them.

Just got my flyer. Those are nice looking feeders. I would need to see in person though.

We had an original one that was about $250 for the #300 one I think. A lot of corn ended up around the hopper and not flowing into the spinner. Unless they changed the hopper design, for $450 I'd get a different one. Especially since there were like 1,000 parts to be put together!

We just got one, they let us take a display that was already assembled but it really does look like they have changed the design where you could assemble it very easily and quickly. Have yet to see it in action yet but so far so good.

Just picked up one of the 720 capacity. We'll see how it holds up compared to the 600 lbs heavy duty one I've got..Price is certainly good.

For you guys who bought them, I would love to know if they improved the inside over the previous version as far as pushing corn to the thrower. We have two of the older ones and that is my only real complaint. There can easily be 100 lbs. of corn left in the feeder and it just piles around the outside and doesn't get to the thrower.

Grizz,
I'll post when it gets that low. Going to be some time though. There does appear to be a slight slope in the bottom of the feeder.

I bought one and installed it a couple of weeks ago. Solid feeder and easy to assemble the legs.
The roof is slanted presumably to let rain run off and the fill area is tapered so all of the corn should fall through the hole. The taper at the bottom is much like the funnel inserts we use in 55 gal drums.
I'll monitor the progress. If it is as good as it looks, I may buy another to replace an old crank feeder.
