It looks like the wet weather finally subsided in North Texas and the hogs were happy to be out and about. We were happy to see them. I have been hunting this pair of properties for just a few months and we have seen the average hog size drop dramatically as we have killed off the larger hogs. As such, out monster-sized hog was only 140 lbs. I found this rather amusing as it was the last hog of the night when we initially spotted it by itself out in a field and I was sure it was going to be at least 200 lbs. Nope.

Had same thing happen yesterday in rain when rode up on a group of hogs in creek bottom in middle of day. Took 3 shots 150grn 308 to finally stop a 200lb boar. He was running dead though. Dropped another one in his tracks though. Same size.
