Tired of the same ol dove poppers, family said "pass" on them last night. planning on doing a ponzu stir fry this weekend.
but I LOVE poppers but must admit the first 1.000 or so are great but they do get boring.
has anyone ever substituted banana peppers for the jalapeños? or for that matter any other kind of pepper? (thats not too hot, family won't eat them) ?
thanks in advance.

Buy them fresh, roast and peel. leave them as "whole as possible". At the restaurant in Capitan NM, they serve a green chili cheeseburger, that has a piece of green chili bigger than the size of slice of cheese. One of the best green chili cheeseburgers in New Mexico.

Hatch, anaheim, or poblanos.

You could meet in the middle and do some Chili Rellenos with the dove.

We’ve done poblanos, hot banana peppers, jalapeños, Serranos, blanched jalapeños and add a strip of habanero, made stuffed bell peppers with chopped up breast meat.

Make a jalapeño popper with pepper jack block cheese.
Roll the whole thing in brown sugar, 6-10 in a glass pan @ 375 for 12 minutes or until bacon is done to your liking. Pour juice into a small bowl and use as dipping sauce. I preheat the bacon.
