I am new to Ellis County and am looking for some public land for hog hunting. Most paid hunts I find have a minimum number of hunters and its just me! I have been around Lake Bardwell for duck hunting and have read you can hunt hogs there, north of HWY 34. Has anyone been out that way? Thanks

If I’m not mistaken, the public Corp land north of Lake Bardwell is pretty restrictive when it comes to hogs. I believe it is 1) daytime only 2) archery only 3) no baiting 4) no calling. I’m not aware of any other public land in Ellis County either.

Thanks. There is a small area to the west of the lake, south of 287 that you can use shotgun/slug.. but yes, it is pretty restrictive.
