Literally no birds in the Pflugerville area. About the 4th year in a row. Time to find another spot.

That's awesome, getting the kids out experiencing the joys of the hunt with family, that's what its all about!

Hunted a field that's literally 300 yards outside the city limit of Gatesville. Haven't been seeing much of anything but we did better than I expected. 3 hunters got 30 doves. And I extended my streak of killing the first dove I shot at for another year. Think this is year 15 of getting a first shot kill. It's been raining hard for several hours so no hunting for me today.

I had my limit by 7:30 and with the dark clouds I did not walk out into the field until 5 till 7. Rain came in at 8 sharp and shut the rest of the guys out from getting their limits. I was pleasantly surprised at how well our sunflowers did, I expected a season like the last 2 but looks like a decent season coming on this year.

Hunted near Murray. Lots of young morning doves coming into the sunflower fields. Lots MORE RAIN.

Spend more than half the time in the truck, called it quits at 3:30, and still came away with close to limits for everyone.

Even with the rain, I'd call it one of the better opening days in the last few years.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Three limits for 3 of us opening day. Just got back from the field today, went out at 3:00 and shot my limit in 35 min Really went out to see how much the tanks came up from the rain. We lost one spot due to the water coming up about 3 ft.. But all 3 are full and the duck groceries are flooded now.

We hunted near the Abilene area, great opener. Limits for everyone both days. Finished hunts in the morning both places. First day was primarily whitewings - sunflower field. It was really hot and humid but we managed! Next day we moved to a milo field ; front had moved in and it was much cooler and tolerable. All mourning doves with a few Eurasians thrown in. Spinners worked well on the mourning doves and as usual, whitewings did not pay much attention to them.

We were just north of albany. Limit opening morning, lots of rain the rest of the day and next morning. There were still birds around the first afternoon but not much at all 2nd morning.
