So I’m sittin there today, minding my own business, eating tacos on my tailgate right next to 75 and NWHiway and I see these birds fly in, which I thought were some dove at first. Then they flared right as they landed and were lime green so I walked over and take a closer look. There were 5, I caught 3 on video. They look like little parrots from Central America to me. Pretty neat to see.

Monk parakeets aka Quakers

That could be useful in advertising, Miniature Green Quaker Turkeys. Since they are wild, don't forget to add that they are also "free range" turkeys. .

They are in deed Monk Parakeets, there has been a colony of them at White Rock lake since the early 90’s that I know of. They make large nest that could be seen on the cell tower at the lake. Also when they are in a large group there is no mistaking that they are parrot.

Makes sense. I’m not far from there at all.

Also, I think it’s really cool to see them like other wild birds. They were pretty as heck. It would be much cooler to see those than the nasty look black birds that are everywhere.

That’s what I think. I had a parakeet as a pet when I was a kid. Grey feathers with lime green under belly and a yellow head. His name was Pretty Boy Floyd. He was a mean mofo.

Ha! A parakeet names after a bank robber, I like it. I like it a lot!

Taste like a big dove. They are considered a bonus bird in Argentina. Bird boys love it when you bag one (or ten).
