blind spot induced by rage, self-righteousness and a general feeling of superiority, all because you chose a method of transport that 98% of America gave up when they reached the age of 16 and got a drivers license.

Nope, I always assume positive intent. You clearly raced to the dark side and got in a tizzy. You know, using profanity, the lowest form of language and a sign of a person who feels (rage, jealousy etc.) instead of thinks. But hey, I could be wrong. You do you. up[/quote]

Hhmm, doesn't look like positive intent with what you wrote me, looks like you more or less called a bunch of stuff, but whatever. I got to go on a bike ride, y'all have a good one

PS s*** is just something I say, I didn't even think about it being profanity LOL. Sorry if I incensed you :-)

Exactly. I assumed positive intent when I said you might have misinterpreted and ventured a guess as to why as opposed to saying you are an idiot or something like that. If you quote, quote the whole thing. Anything less is disingenuous and shows more about you and the person you are. Be well!

I have not read all of this topic, but as stated before, I am also one of the avid bikers/cyclists in this forum.

I choose to ride off-road 95% of the time.

During the 5% of street riding, I find places where there is no traffic.
Even though I may have the "right" to ride on city streets, I know I cannot compete with motor vehicles, therefore, I don't.

Addendum: Every Saturday and Sunday, every junior college has campus roads all around them which are great for riding.
Also, big business that take up entire city blocks, like Fujitsu in Richardson. Those lots are almost abandoned on weekends. That's when and where I ride "street."

Addendum II: "Common Sense" and "Choice" keeps you safe, most of the time.

Well I didn’t read it all. Hard to believe there are 8 pages of it. Every year I use a bicycle to road my bird dog for about a month and a half leading up to bird season. It toughens up his feet and I know he is in halfass shape when I start hunting him. I don’t road him on the highway and I stay on the shoulder. I’m 60 and I don’t wear the weasel squeezer shorts. I get a lot of thumbs up👍 from passing motorists. The few that have given me grief were all fat a$$es. I just chalk that up to them knowing they would probably end up in a coronary unit if exercise were forced on them and take satisfaction in knowing they are too far gone to be able to enjoy a day out walking behind a good dog. I often see cyclists riding the side of I 45 south of Huntsville and also on Hwy6 between Navasota and Hempstead. I admire fitness in man or beast and take that into account when I encounter a cyclist on the side of the highway. For those always in a hotasshurry, leave earlier and quit pushing your scheduling issues onto your fellow man.

Great post until the last line. Sad in fact. It's obviously all of the vehicle drivers who are at fault here. Always. Gimme a break.

I jog down the county roads around my house. When a car is coming i jog in the ditch.

Growing up in a much more biker infested area i may or may not have indulged in being able to make the old cummins smoke on command.

Sorry you didn’t like my take on city drivers HUD. I live north of the Houston area. From time to time I take the freeway through the city. You will get ran over doing 75 and cut off if you use your blinker. Sitting behind the steering wheel in traffic seems to bring it out a F your brother mentality in a lot of otherwise reasonable people.

Being 60 or 20, I am glad for what you are doing. Kinda thinking you are not the issue being referenced. Lots of pretty darn good people here. Lots of idiots everywhere. Some have to take the flak for being associated with those idiots, but should not take it to heart. I would not ever, ever place myself in the position where somes of you guys have written about. In fact, Mama always told me I would be mature when I quit putting myself in places where I could get hurt.

So glad you do not wear spandex. Maybe that should be a new poll, "Do you wear spandex?" .

I don't know what's worse, cyclists or snowbirds. They both think they own the road. I don't like being forced to drive 35-40 in the 60. It's hard for me to get mad at snowbirds (except for when they pull out right in front of you) because they're mostly old retired folks, but the cyclists...another story. Get your a** out of the way and stop impeding traffic. I witnessed several near head on collisions on 2 lane highways because people are trying to pass a line of vehicles stuck behind some spandex wearing gaylord cyclists.

Had a similar hit and run here, the comments were about the same, it turned out it was a middle aged white woman.

Almost funny to me how someone poses a question in general form and people assume it is meant individually, if not directly pointed at them.

Phew that's some advice that could go about anywhere and pertain to about any modern man. Good stuff.
