We have a lease in Woodson. Previous to this year we had pretty good service that would toggle between 4g and LTE and very rarely had no signal at camp. This year we have 5Ge and it’s horrible. We’ll have one bar of service or nothing at all. Our provider is AT&T.

Have any of you had this happen? If so, what did you do to increase your service? I have no idea if anything can be done so I’m looking for ideas.

I ask this because I use my phone or iPad as a hotspot so I can work from the lease during the week.

And before I get the negative replies about having technology at the hunting camp, I own my own essential business and must be connected 24/7.

Thank you the the help!

Contact the local telephone co-op. Maybe you could get some fiber to the premise service or some wireless service. Brazos telephone co-op may be the local carrier.

That’s an idea. I’d prefer just to use my phone as a hotspot so I don’t have to incur another bill. It might be unavoidable though.

i was having the same issue last year. By working from the Ranch it allows much more hunting time. We ended up getting mofi after a few here suggested it. It works great!

Again, I own my own essential business so I must be able to work wherever I’m at. I would prefer to be able to work from my lease so I could get more time in the stand. It hadn’t been an issue before they converted our tower over to 5Ge this year. Now the service is terrible.

Try contacting AT&T, they may have a 5g hotspot you could purchase. Or maybe some sort of signal booster. Is your smart phone 5g compatible?

I’ve been researching signal boosters all morning. I’d be interested in from someone who has one at their place.

I have a Wilson Weboost, it took us from one bar in certain areas of the house to full bars in the living room where the transmitter is, and 2 or more bars in other rooms. They make one a size bigger than what we got. There is a function on your phoe to where you can see the actual signal values. Wilson has a chart that tell you what you can expect with the booster given those values.

We live in Hurst but have property South of Bowie. Wife bought a HotSpot and she uses it when we come here. By here, I mean that we are atBowie for 4 or 5 days. Minor issues but certainly doable. Right now, I’m on my IPad with very few issues. It worked before she got the HotSpot. If a cell phone works, so does the IPad.

I bought and installed a weBoost last year in our cabin and went from 0-1 bars and boosted service up to 3 bars. We had one at work as well. Amazon sometimes has refurbished ones or open box ones for pretty good discounts.

The booster worked great inside the trailer. Couldn’t tell a difference outside. I was able to use my iPad as a hotspot and work like I was in the office.

Another endorsement for the Wilson boosters.

I use one at work where I have no bars (-113db) without it and 4 bars (-75 db) with it. With AT&T, we are getting 20 Mpbs down with the booster. I've had it for almost two years and it keeps on ticking.

I believe this place uses point to point wireless shots for fast service. Check to see if they have line of site to your place:
http://newsourcebroadband.com/about.html

I have Hughesnet, which is ok for html traffic, but brutal when using vpn.
