Remember back in the day when someone would have to drive out to your house to quote you a price? Its not that way anymore. Mike used Google Earth saving himself and me an extra to get started on power washing my house. Mile is my kind of man. He said that he would be her at 8:00. He showed up at 7:40. Ever use Google Earth? Explain.

Use it all the time for wireless links, easy to check distance and look at building rooftops, line of sight, etc...

Mud daubers are my worst enemy. I sprayed all the wasp nest I could see. I like Mike so far. I saved his phone number. Planning on calling him back to clean my driveway.

Also, remember when we had to give directions back in the horse and buggy days?

Lots of folks rely too much on just taking Google's directions. Sometimes, if they'd take a few seconds to actually listen to the customer giving them simple directions, they'd get to the place with a lot less hassle.

I've had folks ask me to "drop a pin" for my location. It doesn't work that well out in the country. And the ranch is, truly, out in the country. It can turn into a real circus trying to get someone to STOP looking at their phone and just listen to the simple directions, including virtually impossible to miss landmarks!

I use Google earth and pin drops daily. I can pretty much bid a job using Google earth as long as the picture is fairly recent. I use it for measurements, brush thickness, even elevations. It is a great tool. I send and receive pin drops multiple times per day. Much easier than giving directions. I don't think you can get more out in the "country" than 60 miles in on the KR, and it has never failed me.

I love a good work ethic. Mike is coming back tomorrow morning to wash my driveway and patio. That will give Mike and my water softener time to regenerate. I'm a little worn out myself. It's just not in to sit in an air conditioned house while someone is outside working.

I use Google Earth a lot for many different things. Our company GPS system overlays our units onto it, that’s where I see it most.

As for directions, none of the maps will find my house. Even though you try to tell Fedex, UPS and others that, they always have to try it their way and call and say they can’t find it.

Make sure he takes it easy on the mortar between the bricks he could make them loose or blast water inside the walls and you'll get mold..

FYI ..Satellite map view is handy to find back ways into busy areas.

Example. Have you ever driven to a place of business only find yourself trapped by traffic or a big vehicle blocking your planned exit. Pull up a satellite map, plot an alternate exit.

This is not his first rodeo. Nick came back this morning to wash my driveway. He also said that he was not completely satisfied with the job on the front of the house and planned to touch it up.

I put his contact information on my phone. I no longer do business cards like I did back in the day.

I have Google Earth Pro, you can use the CLOCK symbol to view past data. I can look over a new lease or the normal place we hunt back several years. We had timber cut and you can see the old trails and the new trails over the past few years.

That's hard work. He brought his on lunch and swallowed it down with tap water. I liked his work enough to ask him to wash my beat up old patio. Its not much but its the best he could do. Its still wet.

All I am gonna say is if you post a photo of your place showing a just a lil' bit of the surroundings and provide a reference point within say, 5-10 miles, someone can use Google Earth and the County Appraisal District website to find an aerial of your place, your name and mailing address. I know this for certain.

And don't forget acreage and approximate value. Everyone knows the county is low, compared to market, but it's relative and you often find out that "Mr. Bigshot" ain't so big. cool

Most of the time all you need is the owner name. Most county appraisal district websites have areial maps if you either know the owners name or the location of the property you can zoom in on the property or go to google earth.

That's how I find new duck hunting spots. No need to scout in real life - scout online! Even better when someone has GPS enabled on their photos and its embedded within the data! (Kidding - I don't do this - but people DO do this)

Yep, many a deer lease lost to a GPS photo where a new person swoops in, tracks down owner and makes a high dollar offer all unknown to current leasees. one reason a lot more lease groups gone to "no share' photo agreements.
