What would be your 3 centerfire rounds to cover everything you wanted to hunt?

Mine are:

small game/predator- 223 Rem. Easy choice for me. It's perfectly suited for this role and its everywhere.

medium/large game- 308 Win. Another easy choice for its versatility and availability. It's inherently accurate and has almost unlimited bullet choices.

large/dangerous- 9.3x62 I doubt I will would ever hunt a dangerous game but if I did, it would most likely be large bear. I have the 9.3 and I really like it. If I didn't already own one, I would be torn between it and the 338 Win Mag. They have similar power levels. I like the idea of having 5 in the mag with 9.3 but I doubt that would matter with dangerous game. I can't imagine having the time to get those 2 extra rounds off.

Small game - .223 can be found everywhere (well usually)

Medium/large - 30-06 although it is hard not to say .280.

Large/dangerous - 338 Mag

7x57, 9.3x62, .450ne.

If I had to I can pretty much handle any defensive or hunting situation with one good AR15 lower and three uppers.

.223 (anything up to and including hogs/deer with a good bullet)
300 HAM'R (anything up to 400# with the right bullet)
.458 SOCOM (will handle anything except Elephant with the 300gr Barnes TTSX)

However I much prefer to have lots of guns

Bill, I really like the 338 Federal as well. I recall seeing a video of you using an AR in 338 Fed it to kill a Nilgai.

I'd have to go 22LR, 308 Win, and 300 Win Mag. If 2 legged critters are in the decision, then 300 blk out gets a nod.

Savage Axis 223, Savage Axis 243 and Marlin 1895 original 45-70. I can kill anything I'll ever see with one of those three.

My list has changed from Dr orders so in sticking with Centerfire

22 Hornet I can load it to 22lr performance or speed it up a little in the Browning low wall that is just a lot of fun

6.5 Grendel I can kill about anything I would hunt with it

7mm-08 for anything else I am likely to hunt.

TDK nailed it, you can reinvent the wheel all you want, those old cartridges do the job as well as any reincarnation.
