Saw a fawn this morning with this. If it was a predator I would have thought it would have killed the fawn. It doesn't seem to be bothering the fawn.

Any roads close...wondering if it got clipped by a vehicle...

Bobcat would be my guess. Any kills or fresh dead animals I have seen that is where they start to eat first.

No roads. Have not seen any signs of coyotes. Did catch a bobcat in a snare a few weeks ago. Going to have to put a camera out and a almost dry tank and see what is drinking there.

Man, that's a pretty bad wound.

Hard to say...fence, vehicle, bobcat.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Looks like something it wont soon forget!

I would have thought a bobcat that got that good ahold of it would have finished the job. Also expect them to start eating at the rear but killing at the front. Maybe momma saved his bacon before a predator could seal the deal?

It looks like predator , maybe Mom or something else scared it off before it could finish the kill

I've always heard cats attack the neck area and canines pull down from behind, but could be an old wive's tale for all I know

Agree with dogcatcher, I would almost bet a encounter with barbed wire.

I had a colt 40 years ago got trapped between mom and fence and cut throat. Looked like a sharp knife.

Maybe young feral dog? Do you have feral dogs in the area?

Well, if fawn took off running and cat was chasing, that could be where the cat took a swipe, got a partial hold and then maybe the fawn kicked the cat.
Seen videos of that scenarios that end with a capture or an escape.

No barb wire fences and no dogs. Did find a dead female BB Antelope this afternoon. Skinned out her neck and it wasn't a coyote that killed her. I guess she just died.
