I just blasted one with some Real Kill. Dang they are huge. I am considering hunting them, using 7/8 Oz of #9 .... But I'm not sure that's a heavy enough load, those things are massive!
Has anyone here been stung by one? I imagine it hurts a little bit

To the best of my knowledge they have not made it to Texas yet, still way up in Washington State and Canada. You probably ran across a Cicada Killer that is now being confused with them because they look very similar. cicada Killers are big and can grow to 1 1/2" long.

If you have one in Texas you need to call the TAMU murder hornet task force. https://today.tamu.edu/2020/06/30/its-big-but-its-not-a-murder-hornet/“First, the Asian giant hornet is native to Japan and South Korea, and it has only been found in parts of British Columbia, Canada and the northwestern corner of Washington state,” Davis said. “There have been no confirmed reports of these hornets in other U.S. locations, including Texas.” There are a number of Texas native species of wasp, hornet, yellow jacket and bees, but what really separates Asian giant hornet and a few of our native species is their size. The ones most likely to be confused with Asian giant hornet are three species of cicada killers and the pigeon horntail.

Roast them over mesquite coals until lightly tanned, then dip in either dark chocolate or white chocolate. Allow to cool, they can be kept refrigerated for up to 6 months.

I tried to get a pic but it would not stand still and I would rather be shooting it with hornet killer
Note: I never kill bees or dirt-dobber, I do get rid of wasp nests but I think those creatures are vital... I don't know about the murder hornets though... They look unnatural

My brother in Colleyville has a bunch of cicada killers running around. So much so that he thought he had a gopher problem with all the dirt mounds popping up.
There has only been 1 or 2 individual Asian hornets confirmed in the US and both were in Washington state as Stub said.
Lots of other types of Hornets native to Texas.

Back as a kid we would follow the cicada killer to its underground den then cover the entrance with an m80. When we felt it trying to move the m80 we'd light it and run like he77.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I killed something yesterday that was about the size of the cicada killer, but had black furry legs on it. Not sure what it was. I've looked around a little on the web but couldn't find anything.

I have the Cicada Killers in my back yard every year. They'll sometimes buzz around me when I'm mowing around them, but I've never had one try to actually sting me. They don't seem to be overly aggressive toward people.
