Walmart has had it on sale for 10¢ an ear for several weeks. What's your best price?

We ate field corn when I was growing up. My momma later discovered sweet corn. She planted a half acre. All her friends and neighbors were invited to help themselves.

Yep. Two ears. Must be a bumper year for sweet corn. I know it. Is for cotton. The farmer across the road said that he was looking for 3 bales per acre on dry land cotton.

My best price is free, when I grow it.

we always had field corn, a friend of dad's had a 40-50 acre field that he planted almost every year in corn and the government would contact him to plow it under most years, they would pay him instead of harvesting. He would call us to come get all we wanted before he plowed it under. I never grasp that concept of wasting it ...

Growing up on the panhandle, corn was everywhere. We got a contract with a seed company to grow the newest hybrid, called candy corn, sweetest corn you ever tasted. It took a threat of rock salt to keep me out of our own patch of it. But I did raid a neighbor's patch a few times. That, along with and occasional watermelon or cantaloupe, and sometimes a handful of peaches are about all I ever took that wasn't mine to take. Boys will be boys.
