Hello All,
I just moved to SW Houston. Looking at the map the closest public land for my son and I to do some Squirrel Hunting is Huntsville. Anyone k ow of other areas or leads on where to go up there. I am not home enough to get on a lease and spend that kind of money. would love to just not worth it for limited hunts. Thanks in advance.

It's a little farther but you you can hunt in the Big thicket national park, this year you just sign up over the phone,it's free and there's several units you can hunt. I hunt the big sandy creek unit near Segno and its always loaded with squirrels.also the hunting areas is 9800 acres I think. If you have any questions please feel free to ask
Don't know where I'm goin but I'm makin good time

Someone sent me a location in Sam Houston Forest but my message box was wiped by system or during password reset. I remember it was a trail head.

The area of the Sam Houston National Forest near Lake Livingston (specifically around Coldspring) can be decent.

Yes the SAM Houston is way worth the hunt. We deer hunt around cold springs and shepherd area it’s loaded with cat squirrels and few fox squirrels as well. Be sure to wear your orange.
