Hello Everyone,
All of us need a place to keep our hunting toys so I figured this would be a good place to ask. I'm curious how much you all paid for your metal buildings. I am located in the western part of fort worth.
Here are the specs for my shop: - 30 'x 40' x 14 - Vinyl backed batting insulation -Three 10' x 12' overhead doors. Two in front and one in back - 6" slab - 15' x 20' covered patio on the side with a personnel door and window - No electrical. Going to do that myself. - HOA is requiring me to have a 4 foot tall brick wainscoting around the whole shop.
So far I've gotten three quotes and they range from $37,000 all the way up to $65,000. I know labor and steel prices have gone up recently but I am still in a little bit of sticker shock.

What was wrong with the 37K bid ? That sounds like a bargain.

Done right you are easily in the 45-50K range with you doing electrical and having the brick wainscot being required.

What was wrong with the 37K bid ? That sounds like a bargain. I agree. 37k would be pretty cheap. You need to check them out though. I honestly don’t think the 65k quote was too out of line depending on what was quoted

I would have guessed 55-60. I've got some prices a while back to build at my place at Rayburn but decided to sell in the near future.
Get a price from Wolf barns. They build all over Oklahoma and Texas. They built one for a customer of mine and built most of the barns and shops in the big country subdivision down south of me called Bar X Ranch.
If I built one I would get Wolf to build, they do good work and been around for a long time and not going anywhere.
Thanks, Billy

That building would cost you between $53,000.00 and $56,000.00 depending on site and location. This estimate comes from doing about 2-4 a month. We are sheeting one right now almost identical to your specs and my price is in between the numbers I gave you.
You will find bids all over the place And opinions from some that may that have one or two built for themselves. Some from men that have never even built one. Wade’s price is about spot on for what he has, seems he had some grade and access issues that added a bit to the total cost, which sometimes are a necessary expense.
$37,000.00 is way too low and corners are being cut to get to that price. Cheap isn’t good and good isn’t cheap.

I don’t know where you are building, but if anywhere around the NE Texas area, don’t use David Loughmiller or Nicholas Welch aka Red Beard Welding.

$37K is a bargain, considering metal prices have gone up
I paid $17K for a 40x60 18' eave 21 peak 2 4ft doors 1 14ft roll up
That's just building material... to give you an idea

What was the issue with them? David is a pompous [censored] who *might* build what you want, or he may just build what he feels like and give you back the money from what he didn’t feel like. Also, he was using self tapping screw for a long time instead of welding them. Red Beard Welding aka Nicholas Dale Welch is a crook. We signed a contract and paid a deposit and he ghosted. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Turns out he has quite the history of that.
