I drove from Coleman to Woodson, then through Graham to Jacksboro, then to Sprintown and didn't see but 3 dove. That's right 3.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

There's always 8-10 every afternoon at the end of the driveway pecking at gravel. Late evening there's probably 10 or so in each red oak in the back, and no telling how many on the power lines from the house all the way out of sight.
But this last week, nothing. No birds. No rabbits. No hawk.
There was 2 crows for about a week, but they're gone too

if it stays dry I may be hunting water to start dove season off.
On a side note, my teal holes are drying up fast. Hopefully things cool off and we get some rain soon to help things out.
But I kinda feel this is going to be a dry warm winter, just a gut feeling

Seeing a pretty good bunch where I go walking. Not a hunting area, but a heavily wooded area in town with 2 creeks going through it. Plenty of food and water.

The dry part helps a lot of the places I hunt....each season is different, so we shall see! Warm, Dry, Cold, Wet; doesn't matter, we will still be out chasing these migratory birds all season!

No one is planting Milo or corn near the places that I hunt anymore. hunting has been really shallow the last few years because of that. Maybe we will get an early cold snap to get them moving

Did any birds show up in the central corridor after the storms blew through?

the white wings moved into north Dallas a few weeks ago. I think the dove opener will be good.

That looks pretty good---seems like a lot of folks are pretty worried that we may have another horrendous year like we did around here (Austin outskirts) last year----I can only hope they're wrong!
