What's the THF opinion on which engine to go with? I currently have a diesel tractor and gas ATV. The mule will be replacing the ATV.

Also are there any other crew cab UTV's I should consider?

It depends. I have a diesel 4010 and really like it. I've had zero issues and it's a 2012. If noise is an issue with you then you might think twice about the diesel. The lease I was on was large and I could park a good distance from my blinds and walk a fair distance. If you don't have that luxury then gas may be better. Diesels are obviously a little heavier.

I asked my dealer this question since he sell a lot of UTV's. He told to go with a gas engine in the ones he sold...Kawasaki or Polaris. A lot will depend on how and what you use it for. Kubota would different if you wanted one.

I’ll be using it mainly to run around the farm and haul hunters to and from duck blinds. Any heavy work is done with the tractor.

Might haul a water tote on rare occasions.

I bought a diesel mule pro because I don’t use it that much outside hunting season. And not that much really since I bought it, only about 120 hours in 3 years. The diesel fuel doesn’t go bad like the ethanol gas. And it’s very fuel efficient.

I’ve been around both and neither owner have any trouble with theirs. The dorsal is louder in my opinion.

Sorry, that’s al I got.

I've had both and prefer the gas over diesel due to noise and smell and I only run non ethanol fuel.

Where I hunt I usually use a Kioti diesel UTV.
It’s a bit noisy so as said above I park a ways away and walk in. I can see the UTV from the tripod stand, I was checking that way a see a group of hogs milling around the UTV!! With binoculars I can see one is licking the diesel that was spilled on the fuel tank!
I should park under the feeder!

When we go out in the noisy Kioti to spread corn the game camera shows the hog and deer come within a few minutes. Using the quiet gas powered truck it is much longer. Rattling sound has become a dinner bell.

yep, love my Kubota RTV but it is not a dual row seating. I have looked at those but when utilizing the 2nd row seat, makes the bed pretty small front to back when in that configuration. If you aren't in a rush to get places and have fairly smooth roads, it's a great workhorse of a UTV. The deer are all my places are used to the diesel engine sounds and it doesn't seem to bother them.

If I was going to a gas rig, I would highly recommend the CanAm Defender. My son has one of those and it is really nice along with a fairly big bed for a dual row seating unit.

I got tired of having to go get gas for my Ranger and bought a new 18 Diesel Mule. I have a farm tank at my house and one on other side of ranch. Very efficient. Is a little noisy but I was told to put a car muffler on it just never got it to town to do it,

The diesel is very loud. Listen to them both before you decide.
