So on my feeder at the house I’m using “The Timer” for the timer. I’ve never had any issues of any kind with these timers and think they are pretty great and simple to use. However the one on this feeder won’t throw corn when the time to throw corn comes around. It will sling corn like it should when I hit the test button, keeps accurate time, and battery shows that it has a full charge. Any thoughts or suggestions on what the problem could be or what would fix it?

Try putting a new 12v battery for the spinner in it. I have had something similar happen where the “test” would generate enough power to spin it but the scheduled times spin wouldn’t. A new 12v fixed my problem. It’s worth a try if you have an extra battery laying around. Might as well put new batteries in the timer also just to rule out the batteries.

Check the battery w/ a volt meter and if it is good reset the timer.

Try the reset button and reprogram. It’s small and needs to be pushed with a pencil or pen, nail point etc....

I have one with a solar panel, but when the battery starts to fail or wear out, it won’t have the juice to spin the motor. I keep a couple of back-up batteries on hand for the feeders.

Agree. Change both the double A batteries located inside The Timer and your motor 12v battery. If still no spinning correctly. Take the The Timer in for warranty replacement.

Thanks for the help y’all. Swapped out the 12 volt and replaced the AA’s in the timer. It went off on time and I set two more dummy times after that to make sure it was spinning and both went of. However something has me perplexed. There’s an image below the battery that has bars that move up and down like a battery power display, once the batteries were replaced it went up and down repeatedly and settled on the lowest bar. Any thoughts? [Linked Image]

Or am I looking at the wrong thing that identifies battery power? Like I said it’s spinning for now but I have little trust with it until it proves solid again.

I think one display is the AAs in the timer and the other is your 12V main battery.

Yep, top one is the AA nd bottom one is the 12volt. If you replaced both they should both show full. Might be a wiring/connection issue if you know the 12volt is charged.

Change the internal battery

Give the company the serial number , maybe it’s under warranty

Dumb question, I just bought a fresh battery today and hooked it up to the solar panel charger, would the battery have a full charge straight out of the store or should I give it a day or two to see if charges?

Not always fully charged from the store. Just this week I charged up a new one I had just bought. Still, I wouldn’t expect a new battery would show just one bar, like yours does.

I have 5 “The Timers” and would say with certainty that not a one of them has ever shown “full bars” after inserting a new (not necessarily fully charged) 12 volt from the store. Maybe something is array, however I have just accepted it as “the norm” and have never had a problem. Is it because they are indeed not fully charged from the store and have to be charged by the solar panel, highly likely. But even after being in for a couple of weeks to months they don’t ever seem to get to full bars. Wire disconnect, some internal issue I have no idea. Oh well.... it has worked for the past 7 years and hasn’t failed me. If you do go down the rabbit hole chasing this I would be curious to see what you find.

I've had the same experience as Ringworm as recently as last week. Put new bought 12v battery in and change The Time AA. All works but only showing 1 bar on 12v. Just checked after a week and all is good. I don't recall ever seeing the 12v battery signal on The Timer showing full charge. I checked batteries with meter and all good.

So my "The Timer" was showing 1 bar last weekend too. 2yo battery so I ordered a new one that shows arriving Monday. I'll fully charge it and replace the other next weekend. Can't say I ever really noticed the bars until last week. If it turns out that the battery is still good, oh well, I'll have a spare.

Edit. Just got my new batteries delivered. One shows 13.2 volts and the other shows 13.9.. Guess I'm GTG.

When the charge looks to be a bit low, I push the test button to see how vigorously the spinner throws corn. If it’s sluggish, I usually swap it out with a charged battery.

I never trust those battery read outs on anything. I have no idea how dependable they are and they may work fine. It’s just to easy to check with volt meter. I never check on a feeder or fill one without checking voltage and usually log it in a diary. Anyone that relies on a feeder I recommend never going afield without a volt meter—it’s your best friend.

Exactly. Volt meter is essential in the field to troubleshoot a feeder. Timer, motor, solar tested in a matter of seconds.

Gw123–I didn’t notice you were relatively new on here. Yes, there is tremendous information on here. I used to think that after a lifetime in hunting and trying to be a sponge for knowledge that I knew a lot. But once I got on this forum I realized I didn’t know how much I didn’t know.

Yesterday was checking feeders. One had an eliminator spin plate and it just would not spin. The battery read out detailed both batteries at full charge. I couldn't figure out if it was too tight or just what was going on. Dismantled the durn thing, went back to camp, found a replacement plate and drove back out. Replacement spinner would not fit and I pretty much thought they were universal. Called Gregor who was on his way in and found out he was already 20 miles past last store. He knew where some were at camp.

To make a long story short, when he got there it was 100 degrees, 1st thing he did was test the motor on a new battery and it spun like whirling dervish. If only I had done that first. Stupid me.

Yes sir, I read on here for years before I decided to join. I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve been hunting minting my whole life (now that’s only 20 years) and considered myself fairly knowledgeable, but this forum has taught me so much it’s incredible.
