Always had FXT’s but I sold my 2018 recently and now the Mules are on backorder at most dealerships. Considering a Can Am. Any advice?

The FXTs are under recall, and are being fixed from the factory, or by purchase date, first come first serve deal.

Went from a 4010 Mule to a Can Am Defender HD8 2 years ago. Haven't owned a FXT Mule so I can't really comment on it but the HD8 is light-years better than the 4010. It rides 10x better, is much faster (if you want that). The bed height is higher so Wheatie-up in the morning if you're toting a bunch of sacks of corn. So far, in 2 years, it's been 0 trouble- it just gets regular maintenance. Lots of custom options available from the dealer.

CanAm Defender HD8 here also, bought last year. My 1st UTV, so I have nothing to compare to. Great ride and no problems. They are extremely proud of those custom options though. I bought rearview and right sideview mirrors online and put them on myself. The right sideview helps with backing up tremendously. Also bought the double rifle bag that hangs on the back; handy when the seats have people in them, but really blocks rear view.

The FXTs are under recall, and are being fixed from the factory, or by purchase date, first come first serve deal. All new ones are updated, mine is 19 and has it updated last week. Really updates weren’t a big deal since it’s doesn’t get that cold here comparably

Kawasaki is said to be releasing an new mule pro FXT in Oct. thus why it’s not on the 2021 website. Could just be an updated higher HP engine, who knows. If I was going to go can am I’d skip HD8 and go HD10. They really queited the 2021 HD10 down in the lower RPM range. I think they are both great machines.

I have the HD 8 and I love it. I can’t tell you how many Can Ams I’ve sold for hoffpauir, every client who rides in mine ends up buying one.
287 hours and 3000 miles on mine and it runs like a top, I love it.
I have driven at length both the 10 and the HD8 and honestly until you get to around 35 mph you can’t tell much of a difference.
I have been more than happy with my HD 8 and would buy it all over again

I have worked out of and ridden in both. When I was looking last summer I asked my dealer which of these 3 UTV's he would buy if he was buying it for himself...Kawasaki, Ranger or CanAm? He said immediately Kawasaki. Why I asked him? He said the Kawasaki offered a standard 3 yr warranty. Then he asked me..why do the other 2 offer it as an extra add on expense to you?

I’ve had my Defender hd10For a year and a half now and have zero regrets buying it. It’s a work horse and has gone anywhere I have pointed it. Really the only ting I feel it needs to be even more capable is a set of S3 HD springs. They still ride great (buddy has some on his defender) but they help a lot with body roll and much less sag when hauling heavy loads.

Why neither don’t make it standard is mind blowing.

Work them everyday and in about 5 years you will still be working with the Mule and the CanAm will be worn out just like it's Polaris siblings.

I went with the intention of buying a HD8. I left with the Mule MX LE. The only use it will get is at the lease and drive around neighborhood some. The mule drove better and just felt more comfortable to me.

They're both good bikes with their own set of issues. Drive them both and see which one fits you better. There's still some 2020 FXTs out there, but they're scarce and they're commanding a mint compared to last year's prices. The 2021s are supposed to be updated, so it may be worth it to wait on them to come out if you can go without for a couple months.

The mule drove better and just felt more comfortable to me. Nothing at all wrong with the mule and for most it will work just fine. Tough little machines. I needed a bigger bed personally that’s why I went with the can am. I can put much more feed or a 1k lb protein feeder in the bed and still carry 5 people
