Just looking over these, found several with my name on them. few were death benefit beneficiaries. One was life insurance claim.

I didn't recognized them as mine (personally) but could have been from my sister and her husband who are deceased, I was POA and receive all their assets when they passed. My Father Passed and one could have been from a policy of his.

Not sure...

Anyone ever found unclaimed money from this Texas site?? Is it worth filling out the forms. I'll have to send copies of my POA and trustee info.

Thing is I'm not really sure if I'm the correct "person"

A couple of my kids have contacted me about $ listed under my brother's name. My brother and his wife blew off deposits (utilities, etc.) their entire life together. It's positively scary how much money they left on the table. It's just not that hard to do well. You just cain't be schtupid.

I did it not to long ago. Got a call from an investigator who said I had unclaimed money. Took some searching but I finally found it and submitted the forms myself. The investigator was going to charge 10-15% of the unclaimed funds IIRC. Took several months to process but finally got a check in the mail.

How did you know it was "you" not another "MissingAK"

It did say I would be contacted by an investigator who would research it for a fee.

If it is mine, it's a decent amount of money. Maybe could buy a Schmidt and Bender scope??

One of my kids recently got a call from a Texas company saying they would help her get inherited assets she didn't know about. "Licensed by the state", etc. with the license number. They had a legit website that pretty much mimicked the voicemail left on my daughter's phone. They obviously trolled the court records of anyone who died intestate. My mentally handicapped older brother obviously died intestate, probably 6 years ago. "Niece" I'm sure is a #1 target. Similar to the real estate trolls that scan the court records of anyone who's died. Ghouls.

I did it and filled out the forms online when I found 2 small amounts in my name with old address where I lived at those times. Got my claim approved and the money sent to me within 2 weeks. No fees involved. I found my cousin and then my sister names both on there and they had some money on the site. My sisters was quite a bit. Someone with my last name has 2 or 3 pages of unclaimed money...over $40,000 worth. Don't know them though even though they are from South Texas.

I had to wade through several with my name. Some had same middle initial but it was pretty easy to rule most of them out. They list an address or some other readily identifiable information when you get the full report of the unclaimed asset. The investigators just know a name and then start calling everyone that matches. If you find it on the website under your name you should be able to tell if it's you or not. The vast majority were unclaimed last paychecks for minimal amounts of money.

That is a red flag. I've found and received some funds over the years without anybody involved other than the Texas Comptroller's Office. I would contact them directly with questions before you pay anybody anything.

Crazy how a mortgage company or title company could owe me money form 8-10 years ago and not just send it to me. I have had the same address for 18 years.

Buzz, if you are on the official state of TX site they do the investigation and will contact you if they need further information and there is no fee however they will take 1% of the amount if it is over $100 as a handling fee. If the long is in your name it is pretty easy and straight forward. If the monies is in the name of an estate or a deceased persons name it’s harder to claim.

My Uncle was the executor of my Grandmother’s estates and the state of TX had money in her name that he tried to claim on behalf of the estate and they would not except the paperwork that was filed in a local county court. They were wanting everyone that was an heir to file a claim and have it notarized and then they would a check to each heir. The amount was small enough that it wasn’t worth the time and effort. In our opinion the state does it this way to keep the money to earn the interest.

I have never found any monies in my name but have for my wife and others that was easy to claim. My dumb butt step son has I think $600 currently out there. I have I think four to six checks in his name from the state that total around $2000 that will expire this month and I guess go to unclaimed property. I would give them to him but he hasn’t contacted us in any way in close to four years when I brought his mother home on hospice so I’m not going out of my way.

At first i thought this was about Texas land. Did you know that the total land grants versus the area of Texas is off by 1 million acres? Theres 1 million acres of land unaccounted for in Texas and there are attorneys working TODAY on figuring out where it is. Oil and gas baby
