Any of you remember Lloyd Kolb back in the late 70's. He was on a whitetail helicopter census mission.

His chopper disappeared and they never found him

Lots of speculation.

He was a big figure in The Texas Trophy Hunters Association .

Speculation is it was foul play

I bet Jerry Johnston had something to do with it. Perhaps flying for the Cartel's in the name of hunting????

Gary Robertson on here maybe can share info on this. I think they finally found the chopper??

Yes, I remember when this happened but never knew Lloyd. From what I understand, they did find wreckage of a helicopter that they thought might be linked to his disappearance. I have not heard anything about Jerry Johnston being linked to the drug cartels...
I don't think that Lloyd was employed by TTHA but was a good friend.
Adios,
Gary

They used to run ads looking for donations in the TTHA mags in the early 2000’s.

For years after the crash they mounted search parties to go look and then after the wreck was found they printed it in the magazine.

Pretty harsh to state on a forum that someone could have been involved in a triple murder without hard proof

So they found wreckage in 2006 that might have been the wreckage of Kolbe et al. However, there appears to be no follow-up saying that it was indeed the correct wreckage.

Strange that there are no follow up stories.

There were a few.

One common theory was that they ran across a group of drug mules that shot the plane out of the sky.
