Has anyone been gator hunting there before? Do you have any good spots that you would recommend? My son is pumped and i'm very thankful for being picked.
Let me know if you are picked for Mad Island. I have been there several times and know some great spots

Congrats. I have been there 2 for the gator hunts, but the last hunt was 12 years ago. So, really no help on how they are doing it now. But I bet your kid has a great time.

Has anyone else been to Murphree before? Do I need a boat with an engine or will a trolling motor be enough?

I went to a hunt at Murphree a couple years ago. It would be much much better if you can scrounge a boat with an engine, but if all you have is a trolling motor I'm sure they'll work with you and set you up somewhere close. Most of the spots were ~10 minute drive from where you put in. A boat with an engine will open up availability of much better spots.
