My wife and I need to go the Huntsville area.

Any suggestions on a good place to eat? We eat a wide variety of different food types.

We just want a good place, but don't want to wear dress clothes or bring a bank vault along to purchase the meal.

Luck favors the prepared mind.

Farmhouse cafe on the square, be sure to get a few fried pies.

Cafe Texan on the square - Their Chicken Fried Steak is famous

Fiesta Taqueria on Hwy 190 going towards Livingston - Excellent Mexican Food

Country Inn on I-45 at FM 1374 for a good steak that is not crazy expensive

McKensie's BBQ on 11th Street for BBQ.

Darn...I had a meal plan there when I was in college at Sam and the food was always good.

Darn Covid.

McKinsey bbq is the most inconsistent bbg I have ever had. If you hit it just right their ribs are pretty good. Their sweet tea is perfect though. Go easy on the free beans...
Mama Juanitas on the north bound service road south of 190 is good Mexican food. The carne asada is great. Probably sounds girly but they have a carne asada salad that is great with their house made chipotle ranch and cilantro ranch, try them both. And both at the same time.
El Gordos taqueria east of the square is good. They have a couple different aqua frescas every day, very refreshing. The street tacos are my favorite. Tell Esmeralda I said hello.
Mr. Hamburger is the best burger in town bar none and hand cut fries are great.
And as mentioned, Farmhouse Cafe is good. City Hall Cafe gets good reviews but I like Farmhouse better.
I never got around to trying Cafe Texan but heard it was good.

A crying shame. I have known Mr. Strickland for about 30 years. Good People. A retired Army Sergeant Major.

Back in my college days at Sam, Cafe Texan was the go to for CFS! That was early 80's. I went through Huntspatch two years ago and stopped by for lunch. Still a great CFS. Sorry to hear they're shutting down.
