I agree.........I've seen high risk workers report to the walmart grocery every day since this started......people in their 70's that smoke........they are still there.......and as far as teaching your kids to stay home and fear a flu virus.......that teaches them fear and weakness IMO.........

First of all I wasn’t crying about teachers being hated. Just pointing it out much like police officers are hated and despised as well. Teaching is just such disrespected profession now from teachers to parents.

I guess I’d rather have my kids weak and fearful than tough and dead. That’s just me though.

I’m not a teacher anymore just to be clear. If I were I would be apprehensive like so many educators are. It’s apples and oranges. 30 kids in a relatively small room and seeing 120 to 150 of them a day is a lot different than being a greeter at Walmart or any other job really. This is not a political decision for me as it appears or it is for many of you. I’m a conservative republican bit on this one I disagree with them. You’re entitled to your opinion, but again feel free to experiment on your own children and not mine.

I will also add that there are no teacher unions in Texas. That’s some nothern crap that you hear on tv. Teachers and administrators by nature put kids safety first. That’s just who they are. They generally don’t consider politics in their decision making. They wrestle over doing what they believe is the best thing for your kids. Nothing more and nothing less. There is a lot to consider when making those decisions. Politics should absolutely have no bearing on when kids go back or not. But, as usual politics always has to be a huge part of it.

P.S. Until they have a cure and or vaccine or both school will not start. Arguing about that fact is not going to change it.

so you're saying my kids teacher cares more about my child's welfare than I do?

my child's school is starting on the 19th a lot of the schools around me are starting the 13th so is that just another spot you are wrong about?

The schools in this area are opening this month, the parents have the option to have their children in class or taking the classes through Online instruction.

Yeah the smaller schools are a lot different. I think I’m my hometown of cooper they have like zero covid cases. That’s a lot different than an 80,000 kid district like Arlington

You’re being absurd. It’s all fun and games and tough guy talk until it isn’t fun and games. Just like the bravado that guys talk about drinking and smoking and dipping snuff. It’s all fun and games until you get cancer like me. Then it’s not so funny and means something. I know several people who played it down until someone they knew died from it. Their minds changed a little after that.

Here’s what happens when you dip snuff long enough and probably drinking too much as alcohol is just as much a risk for oral cancer as tobacco.

It's about all the children whose parents make the decision to send their kids to public schools. All of those parents weigh the options and decide. The teacher can get on board or get down the Road.

We are starting on schedule as are most districts about 4a and under.

I would suggest that not every family that sends kids to school are white with 4 people at home.

As well they should. Smaller counties with fewer cases or no cases should by all means start school on time. Teachers don’t make the decision to start school or not. That’s up to the superintendent.

I think we are comparing apples to oranges and aren’t on the same page. My perspective is from a district with 6 high schools and over 80k kids and hugely diverse.

I did not even know what he meant with that statement. No clue how to respond. It was like Biden responding to reporters.

I could be wrong but I bet it changes between now and then. If not good luck. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a Georgia the first day of school. At least we have them to sort gauge how things are going to go. Based on their first day it won’t be very good

Well not knowing What I meant is part of the problem. There are multi-generational Families that live together because of culture. Some by choice and some otherwise. Decisions are made based on what’s best for everyone not just one. Saying I played a race card shows your ignorance.

Believe it or not I totally get you wanting your kids back in school. Hell I want mine back in school. My oldest is a senior and last year for football and all the fun that goes along with your senior year and it’s going to be a giant suck fest for him. I don’t want that for him. He told us he wants to just go ahead and graduate in December and start flight school to be a commercial pilot. He knows it’s going to suck. I want all kids back in school. I want America as whole to better than it is now. There is so much going on that it’s ridiculous. This is not the best of times for sure.

By the way you can forget college football too. UConn just announced they are cancelling their football season. Arguing about this really isn’t going to change the outcome.

Yeah I know right? Luckily there are jobs besides passenger carriers. There was a huge projected shortage in five years due to retirements. That’s going to accelerate. AA is offering pilots and stewardesses early retirement packages. If it’s back to normal in 3 years or so he will be fine. If not that will be an expensive piece of paper

With so many adults throwing fits about wearing masks, I would guess the high school students are following their daddy and momma's advice.

The football team is also an independent, with the conferences deciding to play conference only games ruins their season.
