I used to collect coins.
I never bought them at a dealer. I just went through all of my relatives pockets.
Good find!

That’s a great find and in very good shape. I suspect you did not get that in change. It’s been in someone’s collection for a long time. They’re steel, so rust usually kills them. They were only made for three years during WWII because copper was in short supply. It was 42,43 & 44 I think.
Put it in an air tight case and it won’t rust. Don’t clean it.
Cast I have a short attention spa

If I remember correctly, no mint mark means it was from the Philadelphia mint.

Put it in an air tight case and it won’t rust. Don’t clean it. It came from Whataburger or Wendys. I am not sure because I usually just put the change in my wallet without looking at it. I pulled it out today to put it in my change jar and noticed it and since those are the only two places I had been it had to come from one of the two. The silver war nickles are the ones you are thinking about being minted those three years. The steel penny was only minted in 1943.

Yep, had a few in collection as a kid. Dad and i collected coins. Mercury head dimes, buffalo nickles, silver dollars, and half dollars. We had them all. Dad had a 1794 half dollar.

I have quite a few of them from 43. If you find a 44 they're worth a lot of money.
