Anyone sold anything recently on Craigslist?

I haven't used it in a couple of years, but put my old tailgate up with a "Text only" saying in the bottom and my number half written out and half spelled out. Within 3 minutes of posting, about 6 different craigslist idjuts text me asking if still available and requests I click on some link with a verification code to prove I'm not a scam. What in the world has craigslist come to??

Facebook marketplace is the way to go.

Few years ago we moved and put some furniture on CL. After a week my wife put in FB. Gone within a few days.

It's on market place already. I just figured I'd throw it on CL for the non-facebook people. Starting to think that was a mistake lol.

Even worse is Nextdoor. I'm selling some items and keep getting the "Still have it?" msg and then nothing else after I answer yes!

I hear that. I tend to try putting somewhere in there "if ad is still up, it's still available". If they ask me if it's still available i'll just ask if the ad is still up. Some people don't even read ads anymore.

I dont sell much on CL anymore, but it is still a good source for finding deals. Not everyone has a FB account.

My wife uses CL from time to time. She requests meeting for the transaction in front of our PD. That in itself filters out the scammers.

I have bought and sold a few things on CL in the past couple years.

Sold my last car in 20 minutes and my old truck in 2 days. Just ignore the idiots. Have bought a few things of CL including a vehicle bulldozer and soon to be a tractor. No surprises so far, but i dont meet people at my home and i carry.

I use THF and AR15 classifieds. If I can’t sell it here or there it normally goes back on the shelf or in the trash. Those other places and flakey people are not worth my time.

Get a burner phone # app. I sell so much online I have a second burner # at all times that I can change whenever I want to. Keeps the weirdos from having my real #.

Over the last 12 years I have made a couple hundred sales via Craigslist and never had any problems. Having said that I deal in a fairly specialized product used only with farmers, ranchers and property owners. From time to time I have receive questionable responses and it was clear they were not legit....they just get deleted.

I don't do texting.

Never had any issues. Last year sold a tractor and the guy and his wife drove from Louisiana to pick it up. This wasn't a little ticket item.

Isn't Craigslist the official shopping site for serial killers?

Depends on what it is. Lately I've just been tossing stuff on nextdoor and keeping it close. I'll expand out as needed if it doesn't sell.

I never sell ANYTHING. I buy a lot and use Craigs for deer stand kinda stuff sometimes and no problems. Im always looking for deals on used deer stands and toweres. Just found a guy on Craigs saturday and went and looked today. Hes gonna be a great source for stuff. I dont do FB but I should get a friend to look on there for stuff for me--seems like it may be better.

I have had good luck on buying, but not so much with selling on Craigslist, on Facebook,it used to be pretty good both buying and selling, but lately selling has become almost like Craigslist, it just opens the door for crazies.

I sold a truck on Craigslist and recently listed my last truck there. I just know I'm going to get BS offers, the "is it still available" from people I never hear from again, and outright scammers. I just filter that stuff out and move on. I have a set of tires on Craigslist right now and got a quick response after I listed them asking if I still had them because he wanted to buy them that day. I responded that I did and haven't heard from him since. Overall, I've probably had more luck selling things on Facebook, but Craigslist is still a decent place to sell.
