Neighbor has 60 acres with some pet deer in it. He brought them in from a breeder just to look at and not hunt, they're getting big.

All it takes is feed. As long as the owner is happy and the deer are not starving it is really no ones business.

I know that one picture doesn't give a good representation of the whole place, but I don't see a browse line. I wonder if he is letting a few go each year to the surrounding area, as that 60 acres doesn't look to be over browsed.

Nailed it. My neighbor has 1800 acres and has an average density of 1 deer per 5 acres. His feed bill is massive. I enjoy watching his deer, especially when I'm looking at a bare pasture on my side of the fence.

Don't get your feeling hurt Stub. I wasn't directing my comment at you. Just people in general who seem to think they know how to run some ones place better than the owner.

Feelings not hurt at all Don.
And I understand about people who seem to know everything about everything, that's why I poked fun at myself for making the initial comment.

There is a huge difference between deer in a 60 acre enclosure versus an 1,800 enclosure.

If there is a major fire and no one can get to either property, the deer on the 60 acres really have no chance vs the 1,800.

What happens when the rut come around and the dominant buck decides he just wants to kill the younger one? On 1,800 the younger one has a great chance of getting away as it would probably play out in normal scenario with that much acreage, not so on 60 acres. Also wonder what effect that has on the does when they come into heat, where do they run to on 60 acres?

My neighbor who you met Mike has 500 acres with 250 high fenced. He told me on several occasion that packs of coyotes would get into the high fence and basically push deer into a corner where it was difficult for them to escape and kill them. How easy would that play out for the coyotes on 60 acres versus 1,800?

As I mentioned more than once on this post in my gigs to myself, they could possibly be better off now then where they were before, who knows?

Think of the positives for the bucks.... no more having to go all over the county hitting up bars every where Looking for women’s. They know now where they going to be, like having a public bar in your house.

grin

Not my cup of tea either but as long as those deer are healthy and plenty of cover, I not going to judge.

I hope he has planned a head for drought and will not let them destroy habitat with unchecked numbers.

If he is running a high bucker to doe ratio they actually fight less.

Like I said not my cup of tea though, and hope they continue to stay healthy

If you are not directing a comment at someone maybe it would be wise not to copy their statement into yours and use it for the basis of your comment?

Don You got to be kidding me really nuts You really must be an old senile nanny goat to keep on with your nonsense.

I simply pointed out to you if you are not directing statements at certain people then it might be wise to not use their quotes as the basis for your comments.
But no you keep coming up with this BS nonsense that I am accusing you of directing it towards me??? hammer
BTW you think way to highly of yourself if you think I really give a chit!

I guess it must be that time of the month again for you laugh
