This sounds unfortunate I'm arriving July 31 leaving August 2.

Believe it or not you are going during the off season, should be less expensive, no snowbirds. But it MIGHT be crowded due to Covid and now opened back up as of June 1st.

If you have time, the trip to the dry tortugas is a once in a lifetime experience, there is a ferry that runs daily from Key West. The best beach is at Bahia Honda state park, close to Marathon.

I'm not a drunk tourist and do not enjoy their company.

Did you do any hiking through Bahia Honda?

We usually just kayaked and snorkeled, it’s my wife’s favorite spot in the Keys for relaxing.

Marco Island - close enough and a lot cheaper.

Looks like the hurricane may miss you by a few miles depending on which island you are on. Have fun!

I took a 4 day trip to Key West to go tarpon fishing. We hit the tarpon hard and then hit the mangroves chasing mangrove snapper, it was a heck of a lot of fun. The water is CLEAR. There are a lot of good places to eat and some pretty cool things to see, and yes there are quite a few ghays I found out lol. I rented a nice little house, the owner picked us up at the airport and took us there. We rented scooters to run around everywhere. I don't care much for the party life anymore, but I'd love to go back for another fishing trip. It was kind of expensive, but was worth it.

Just got back, but didn't go past Islamorada. Not my cup of tea; way too many people. Like vacationing along IH35, but narrower and with some water around. We were visiting family.

Btw, I didn't mention I am sooo jealous!

Islamorada, hands down without exception.

Cheeca Lodge

Morada Bay for a sunset dinner (make sure to try the Pierre's Punch)

Green Turtle Inn for breakfast (order the sticky bun)

As far as fishing, would highly recommend you book a guide through Florida Keys Outfitters. this is owned by famous Sandy Moret and his guide staff are all excellent.

Also, make sure you stop at Robbie's and feed the tarpon..

Go to Key West early in the day and enjoy then get the he__ out before the insanity starts. I've only been once but figured out Key West was not for us.

Key Largo for us.

Agree 100%, went to Key West last week and not impressed at all.
