Does anyone have experience with these 30' pens sold by goinfencing.com in Forestburg? Looks like they would work great in the rocky part of my lease that I won't even attempt to drive a T post into. They look fairly heavy duty and just connect with pins. I don't see a cost on their website anywhere either. Would love to know if a hog can trash them easily.

Wonder without post behind the panels if they flex back and forth if a hog or cow were to push on them. Also wonder how well they'd stand up to a cow pushing down on top of them.

Agree with your thoughts. I personally don't have cows to worry about on my place but I do have hogs and they, of course, can be just as destructive.

I texted the guy. Panels are 8' long x 36" high. 12 panels makes a 30' pen. $1450 for 12 panels, seems expensive to me, I know I can make my own a lot cheaper.

the previous hunter on our place SW of Ozona, had a 10 panel pen made out of the 32-34" hog panels, sitting on solid rock, no way to drive in a post or rebar. We have feral cattle, horses and the pigs have just started showing up. The cattle & horses used to push his pen over to the legs of the feeder in short order once they figured out they could move it. He finally drove some heavy rebar stakes in with a sledge hammer to slow the movement down. After he left, I put up a pen in roughly the same area, could get t-posts in about 5-6" and then piled up rocks around all the posts. Seems to work okay. I used Cattle panels (50" tall) all the way around except directly in line with the stand, forcing the deer to enter/exit where I could get a better look at them.

Years ago we built our own, we cut panels in half so we could load them in the pickup. Sucker rod for the frame with X cross bars, they easily penned together.

2 places in Lometa sell direct. Riveras is where we buy ours. They worked good on our place in San Saba.

Agreed, the $1450 is for someone that money is of no concern, that's not me, lol. But, my thought was if the square tubing around the hog wire was heavy enough to deter hogs it might be worth it since I can't get T posts in the ground without some heavy machinery.

If you build them yourself, you can use concrete remesh wire. 10ga for 60" wide and a 150 feet long is about $160. Split in half, that makes 30 10 foot of panels. We used sucker rod, because it was free, but it was heavy.

Can you get them in at all? I found some 36" anchor rods (looked like 5/8 sucker rod, cross-drilled for baling wire) with pointed ends at Home Depot. If you used the sq tubing frames, and could drive these in 12-15" to provide a little resistance, I bet they would turn a hog.

In rocky areas we have used rebar instead of T post. With a hammer drill and mini sledge it’s not to bad and goes quick if you can get some help.
