Considering buying a Kawasaki Mule or similar vehicle in the near future. Any suggestions on where around DFW and do the best deals work like auto's...end of the month or end of model year?

Buy used, the price of new is stupid!!!

When I bought a few years back, the dealer in Canton had the best prices. K&P in Marble Falls matched their price but was the only semi-local dealer that would do it. Most of the others around Austin wouldn't even touch it. I would definitely check there. I would have made the trip to buy if K&P hadn't matched. It was a significant difference.

I'm not sure I agree about buying used. A lot folks selling used ones paid way too much up front, and their used prices are now what you can buy new for if you look around. At least that was my experience. I've always been a believer in buying "toys" used as well as you can always find one with little to no use for a better price, but that pattern doesn't seem to hold on these things.

I'll put in another positive word for the Mule. Mine's a Pro-FXT. Has been a great machine.

Mule is a great choice, bought a Mule Pro in 2014 and all I've had to do is change oil.

We had an old VW Bug Dune buggy and you couldn't get that thing stuck and would climb a wall you could never beat a UTV like that without walking home. 2cents

I've been to Colorado with my in-laws twice to do the trails. We went three weeks ago. I bet Polaris outnumbered all of the others put together. I'm not knocking a mule or any other brand. I just know what I saw. And these folks go places where you do not want to have to walk out.

Because that’s what all the rental companies up there have. I promise the Kawasaki is a much more reliable machine.

Timing and location. May let mine go really cheap if and when I move.

Do Kubota UTV's still have the braking system that will throw you through the windshield as soon as you take your foot off the gas? I understand a "kit" is available that will make them coast like other UTV's but still.

Two reasons

First has nothing to do with longevity, those guys don’t keep them over two years at most. Most just one season before they are shipped to auction. In this case it’s simply cost. Polaris will sell each at dealership pricing and give them marketing support etc.

Second reason is trail width. A lot of CO has trail width designations, like less then 60” and down from there, thus why you see RZR’s and not Rangers, Mule Pro, Defenders etc at the rental places

Not sure if it's still the same but I went in to buy a Ranger. Drove the Pro FXT and there was no comparison in how the machines handled and rode. Ranger did have more speed, but so what. I ain't racing.

Then when I heard the Kawasaki warranty was 3 years and the Polaris was 6 months, that told me all I needed to know about the faith each manufacturer had in their product.

I built a VW buggy in 1969, it was a killer on and off road machine.

Where I've been in a 4-seat RZR 1000 I would not have tried on foot when I was in my best shape at 20-ish. I think this machine is about five years old and has not had anything broken. It is absolutely unbelievable. He/they, the group, will blast up nothing but rocks #alls to the wall.

Polaris, mostly RZRs were everywhere. That seems to be the "Go To" machine up there. We pulled into a town that looked like a movie set, Pitkin, CO, and RZRs were at the store like cars around here.

Once in a while we met the other brands. They were putt putt putting along, like they were looking for a golf ball.

I’m not Ag exempt but have bought 2 rangers and 3 rzrs from Jones with great results. I hear Altus Motorsports is price matching them now. Good luck on your purchase!
