Got a 36 volt cart batteries were dry when we checked it this weekend any shot we can get some electrolyte or whatever that crud is and fill them back up and they charge?
Has anyone replaced them with sealed cell batteries like AGM? I’m not as flush as skinner I don’t want to spring for lithium ion lol.
Thanks

I still haven't pulled the trigger LOL, that's big $$. I would just fill them with demineralized water & try & charge them. They will either hold a charge or they won't, depending on the level of corrosion damage.

Ok thanks will give that a go. No corrosion so maybe they have a chance of charging back up.

Corrosion on the cells, I should have said. If they look good you should be good to go. I reallly want to pull the trigger on these lithium batteries and get my cart going again, but it's just not the right time to do it. I've got a stack of Rigid LED lights and a big power train upgrade sitting here that I bought before the Rona & layoff, going to get all of that installed/switches in/wired up etc and then it will just sit here until I can afford the batteries. It's gonna look like a spaceship at night when I'm done with it. Have two primary drive lights, one red creep light, forward/port/starboard light bars (6"), 2 little cargo lights, a dome light, tailgate feeder switch, and 2 auxiliary switches. All lights switched separately for taking the kids rabbit hunting.

Old biker trick...
Dump the remaining acid through a rag into a plastic bucket, one battery at a time. Fill cells with distilled water and dump it out on the ground. Repeat twice. Pour filtered acid back into battery cells and top off with distilled water. It might take a charge now.
If batteries are truly dry, they may be cracked. But rinsing and refilling with acid might work if they’re not cracked. What you want to do is rinse them out good to remove the flakes of lead that stack up and short out cells.
You can buy battery acid at auto parts store.

You can buy an upper level tending charger that will send the batteries thru a desulfation cycle prior to charging, then it will tend them afterwards. It will only work if it senses more than two volts in each. If not, you’ll have to get somewhat of a charge on them before the tender will take over which you can do with a regular charger. Happened to me with an old discharged battery a couple of weeks ago. It took 6 days for the battery to spring to life. I use this: https://no.co/genm2I’m running two batteries, one of them was not happy. But, it’s right for the fight now.

I dont think we have an issue with the charger, the batteries were not new and regretably i never checked the water in them. Probably partially wrote them off from the go as they were several years old and it was used.
If i replace with AGM's i will probably have to get a different charger.

Spend the money on the Trojans. They are far better than the rest.
