This may not belong here and if it doesn't please let me know. But Boy Scout summer camp was cancelled this year so we had an extra week to kill. One of the scout parents had an opportunity to have 4 families go down to Cotulla to a high fence ranch down there sitting on 2000 acres. Stayed a week down there and let me tell you I was dreading our return. Gorgeous cabin, my best friends in the world and my first chance to go hunting. Yes, 42 years old and never been on a hunt. My brother (Bullfrog) has been wanting me to go for years and there's always an excuse but I finally got my chance.

Not that big but I think he weighed around 75-80 lbs. We had started the day in a stand but had only seen some deer and quail. So we hopped on the gator and went to one of the stock ponds 1/4 mile down. As we took the corner there he was about 100 yards. Shot him with a Remington 700 270WIN. I'll never forget that moment and I think I have officially caught the bug. I was on the forum most of the day yesterday reading and learning as much as I could.

Now I just need to go out again.

Great story, Looks like a beautiful place. Congratulations on your first hog. That’s a great size to eat. Glad to hear your trying to learn as much about the sport as you can. THF has a great bunch of people with some good advise.
