Used to be quite a hard partier. From 21-30 years old, I would spend several nights a week out, it was nothing to have 7-8 drinks or more on a good night.

After kids and family time replacing nights out with kids, my tolerance for alcohol has pretty much gone away. Last night we had some friends over and I had about 4 beers from 6pm - 9 pm and I got way more tipsy than 4 beers would usually do and woke up feeling like crap.

Thinking it’s time to part ways with alcohol as it just isn’t a beneficial relationship anymore

I drank an 18 pack last night with no supper (hurricane party), feeling a little rough myself.

It's almost beer 30 though....

I quit in 1976 when my oldest son was born. It wasn't about me anymore. These days I seldom ever drink and if I do, one beer is my limit.

Some weekends I’ll have 1-2 on Friday or Saturday, some I won’t. I enjoy a cold beer after a hard days work but don’t care for being buzzed and definitely not drunk. Haven’t had a drink of whiskey in a couple years probably. I much prefer to be sober minded.

I post a lot of tongue-in-cheesk but this is serious question. I managed to cut back to one beer a day, don't remember the last one I had with lunch, no longer have a dry mouth.

My best fishing friend had to quit cold turkey after a DWI.

I typically have a beer or 2 most days. More on the weekend. I didnt drink a beer for 7 days straight and was amazed at how much better I felt in the mornings. Well rested and not tired at all. Then I spent 4 days at the Frio...

On top of all the beer, last night was the first time in a long time I've had tequila shots. Been recovering all day LOL, I'm getting too old for nights like that.
I cooked up a big pot of smoked deer sausage & speckled trout couvillion & a pot of rice to feed everybody but I wasn't hungry till about 6 this morning. I turned the burner back on to warm some up for me, but ended up falling asleep in the recliner and burning it. bang

Why would you quit just because. Doesn't it make you smarter, funnier and more handsome? I quit many years ago. Now I'm just dumb and ugly.

stuff has ruined many lives, especially for an addictive type person, like me.

I have to limit myself to 4 BEERS which is hard because of my binge ways. Like at the pool,

I did good last night , only had three then ate.

Gave up on whiskey, it ruined a night for me, made a fool of myself and hurt some people dear to me.

Only quit because of medical reasons. Do have 1 or 2 cold ones a week still.

I haven't quit, but I tend to limit myself to 1 or 2, occasionally three, if it's spread out over a whole afternoon. Like you, I find any more makes me feel like crap, I also don't drink more than twice a week.

I do not drink a drop of alcohol during the week. Weekends are bit looser.

I will still have a occasional beer and might have a 1 or 2 mixed drinks some days. Use to have beer all the time and enjoyed it but these days I think I have outgrown most alcohol.

Had a Bloody Mary an hour ago.

But, I did quit completely about 17 or 18 years ago, after making a complete fool of myself. I am happy to say however, that I have forgotten whatever fool thing I did (thank goodness). So I was dry for a year or two, but then the youngest daughter was getting married. She and my wife came to me, in a very solemn fashion, and told me that I would have to start drinking again - for the wedding. So, I agreed to come out of retirement. Got really drunk after the wedding and haven’t been drunk again since. Tipsy maybe, but not drunk.

Had three beers last weekend while fishing with a BiL.

I just don’t drink much any more. Maybe it’s age.

Years ago, I was put on some meds that made me sick if I even smelled a beer, quit then, and when I was off the meds, a beer just did not taste good.

This.

I quit over a year ago just because and see no downside to continuing.

I currently don't use tobacco, alcohol, or caffeine and the world is a much clearer place than it was in my early 20s.

Based on how much I drank during my 20s and 30s, lucky to not be a raging alcoholic. I still drink, and probably more often than I should, but haven't been drunk in a long time. I enjoy a beer or two with dinner if we go out, and on weekends I may have a drink (Manhattan) or a couple of beers after work on Friday, but mostly just to sit and relax/wind down. Where I have to be most cautious is at work dinners with wine - one glass of wine is my limit. Two will give me a nasty hangover, even when not drinking enough to get drunk.
