I'm looking to change up my Remington mod 700 mountain rifle... Would somebody have or recommend a lightweight stock to replace my wooden one?

Grayboe, though I think the barrel channel is probably for a sporter weight. Bell & Carlson makes both ADL and BDL versions. What’s it chambered in? You could just sell it to me and buy a new stainless MR already in a Bell & Carlson

Great recommendations, and maybe I assumed incorrectly, but I’m betting the OP likely isn’t interested in a $500-600 stock. True, he didn’t specify price range, and he may be able to afford seven of them in seven different colors for each day of the week, but I doubt that’s what he’s looking for. No, a B&C isn’t in the same league as the others, but at less than half of the others, and $150-$190 ish used, they would probably work just fine for him. Again, I could be wrong.

You could just sell it to me and buy a new stainless MR already in a Bell & Carlson It's in 260 Remington... And in all honesty i am fairly ignorant to this type of stuff... But my thoughts are too have it cerakoted , put a lighter stock on it and I've already bought a nice Leupold scope for it... It has been my backup rifle for 20 years, but both of my sons haunted with it... So it's kind of sentimental.

So you need a Remington 700 s/a stock with BDL, sporter contour
Try to find one on the shelf at a store Or you may have to wait 6-20 weeks for it
If you give a budget that would help, sentimental to me has no value. Make it where you can use it
OP where are you ?

If it’s walnut/blued, well, here’s a vote for not changing a thing. But if you decide to, and go B&C, you have a couple options. Leave it BDL and go this route 2467 BDL. This is the easier route but you’ll end up about 3/8-1/2 lb heavier than the ADL route. Switch to ADL and go this route 2950 ADLIf you switch to ADL you’ll have to get an ADL mag box, tab screw, front action screw, and trigger guard. Either stock could require some minor fitment.

If you’re but dfw contact Alamo and they probably have something
This would be a good place to start. they likely get take-offs like that that the previous owners don't care about.

Well the detachable mag presents a little bit of a problem with aftermarket stocks. Something to do with the feed rails being different. Definitely do some more research on it before you order something. Best/easiest thing to do may be to just cerakote it in the closest color that resembles bluing and just use the walnut stock and mag.

McMillan game scout — request carbon with EDGE fill
Manners EH-1
Iota has a new CF stock called Eko. I’ve held one at DSC and have one on order and can give feedback when I get my hands on it.

I have a McMillan Game Hunter on a Tikka T3 and a Mesa Precision on a Rem 700 SA. The Mesa is a couple of ounces lighter, but both are very stiff and both look good with their respective paint jobs. I got the Mesa in 8 weeks. It took 3.5 months to get the McMillan.
If lightweight is your primary goal, then HS Precision, Bell and Carlson and Greyboe (with the exception of their new lightweight stocks) are a bit out of the question as they are up to a pound heavier than the McMillan edge fill and Mesa Carbon fiber stocks.
