Spin off from spear questions.....So what are all the legal means and methods to take a whitetail deer in Texas? These are the ones I can think of:

1. Center fire rifle (single shot, bolt action, semi auto)
2. Shotgun (buckshot, slug)
3. Handgun center fire (single shot, bolt action, semi auto)
4. Muzzle loader
5. Air rifle (pre-charged pneumatic)
6. Long bow
7. Recurve bow
8. Compound bow
9. Crossbow
10. Air bow (pre-charged pneumatic)

Not a legal means of taking. In Texas it is illegal to pick up roadkill...even if you were the one that killed it. (exception would be with a permit from game warden)

I had an uncle back in the late '50s decided he was going to Tarzan a doe off a small ledge where the doe passed below him 8-10 feet on a game trail. He jumped on her back with knife in his hand to slit her throat ... the doe just about killed him with her front feet after she bucked him off, broke the blade off his knife and went to the hospital for stitches all over his face, arms and chest. The deer got away unharmed. He quit hunting after that incident.

Not just any airgun. 30 cal minimum, 215fpe minimum. I believe AirForce Texans and maybe bulldogs are the only off the shelf airguns that meet the requirements.
