Working in the wife’s flowerbeds early this morning with the wife’s mutt to assist. And the I heard that sound that just sends chills... ... a dang rattlebug behind me. What to do? I thought — get a pic for the doc! Downright embarrassing... The mutt had munched just enough of it to flip the stupid bug upside down on the sidewalk behind me, and the rattling began.

love the song of the cicada.
But not the rattle when they are kickin' it.

they're fun to throw on unsuspecting people's neck Don't you mean, drop them down the back side of their shirts? I guess either one will work.

I stared at the pic of the flower bed (far longer than I care to admit) thinking there was a hidden rattler

They seem to be a delicacy to my dog. When they are floppin' around & buzzing they don't have a chance!

Yup, I like the little critters and their noise. As far as rattlers go I always check for rattlers and copperheads before I reach into the tomato patch or even step out on to the porch. Living in the country it's a just an old habit.

Copperheads loooooove cicada's. Anytime I hear them I'm scanning for a snake looking for a meal. Surprised how many times I've killed a copperhead when the bugs where singing.

My first pointer ate them. Lonesome Dove's second coon was named Bolivar. They called him Bol. He walked all the way picking up bugs to eat.
