Since I have a .308, it's better.

If I had a 6.5 Creedmoor instead, it would be better. But I don't have one and I can't shoot what I don't have.

So, for me, the rifle I have is the best one for hunting hogs.

Honestly, the 308 is probably better. Not a lot better, but a bit better.

The one that you can put the bullets where they are supposed to go with.

After that it comes down to what bullets you are shooting in each one. Good and bad bullets in each caliber.

Choose a good bullet for both, put the bullets where you are supposed to, and you will never see a real world difference between the two.

I have one of each on my AR-10 hog rifles. PERSONALLY I like the .308 for closer range and 6.5 for longer. Just seems to me that I have been more effective that way. Maybe just a confidence thing?

I personally shoot a .308 but I've seen a 6.5 do extreme damage to hogs.

Like JTPinTX said, the one that puts the bullets where they need to go.

308 is better for short distance and I don’t mean 100, more like up to 300 or so. I’m too disinterested to look up the numbers. How often do you get a LR shot at night when hogs are active? What does it matter? Both kill hogs dead.

620 grain arrow with a fixed broadhead at 62 lbs and 29 inch draw. Usually try to get within 15 yards.

I'll trap them then use a .22 short subsonic, or set up 45 yrds away from the pig pipe and bust them with .17 hmr. I do like driving the ranch with the old mosin nagant (7.62x54) as well.

I'm sure one kills just as good as the other.

I shot this one from 250 yards on Tuesday with the Creed and was impressed.

Every store that has any kind of ammo, will have .308 on the shelf.

The way to go is with a Red Ryder BB gun in .177 cal. It's always good for shooting an eye out!

Guys I was just joking about the starting a war part. I’m getting ready to put together a hog setup and couldn’t make up my mind on what caliber to purchase.

The difference between the two inside 300y are going to lean toward the 308...also, bigger hole bigger bullet. Outside 300y is where the Creedmoor will start to pull away, the bullets are slicker and the wind won’t push it around as much. BUT don’t take my word for it....here is data straight out of shooter app:

Numbers don’t lie and it looks like after running them, the 300y I stated above is closer to 250y. The numbers are based upon both being a Berger hunting vld...308 I used 168 @ 2700 and the 6.5 is a 140 @ 2750. Both can be pushed harder but this was as close to same comparison as I could get.
