Well I finally treated myself to a top tier thermal optic - these scopes have been available for years and I’ve been saving my pennies and recently let go of some nice equipment in the classifieds to get to this point.

I was hoping some new tech would be available in 2020 but I suppose we are sort of hitting a ceiling with respects to what can be squeezed out of 12 and 17 micron systems in civilian optics.

Anyways - - -

Zeroing went off without a hitch, used a 1 1/2 inch foil square at 25 and 100 yards to dial it in, wasn’t to far off center on a 308 AR.

Decided to start on 308 win which is the top recoil rating for the scope - I want to see how it handles the recoil right out of the gates before giving it a run on Grendels / ARC / 22 cals. So far no issues with performance.

Sort of got blindsided by external battery kits - I’m so used to hooking into the video/accessory port and being up and running - well after 10 mins of trying to get my anker battery to power up through the USB connection going into the IR Hunters video port I called tech support - (DoubleNaughtSpy). He didn’t razz me too bad but essentially “You can’t do that” was the answer. Hours of research and 200 more dollars later I got squared away with a TNVC TRB Kit. Works fine so far other than one gripe that the scope and the battery power level of the TRB kit don’t sync up - oh well....

Went on a couple hunts last week and the hogs no showed me.

It was difficult watching the rain for the next few days knowing I had the new scope on the rifle ready to go ....

DNS was generous and offered to have me tag along last night and I finally scratched a long time itch of killing some hogs with my very own IR Hunter - have a look !

Seems like you're on to something good!

Looking forward to getting more reports of your adventures with the new weapon sight.

I think you will like the scope, particularly if the color changing settles out.

Man. It looks like you nailed him right between the eyes. He went down fast.
I'll have to catch the rest of it on the DNS video.

Filled out an RMA today for the Trijicon IR Hunter scope

The crosshairs not switching automatically is a problem, I find that increasing contrast to medium levels solves the issue but then the image is degraded by doing this.

Hoping Trijicon will recalibrate or software fix my unit , quickly .........

I have used them twice. Both times, they did me right. Hopefully, it will be speedy.

Well this unit came to me this way from the dealer and now it has been shipped back to Trijicon today....

I did reach out to the dealer but they said I waited too long to let them know for them to remedy the issue for me. Thats fine, I was hoping the scope would level out with some use and me learning the controls but it was sort of through trial and error that I discovered bumping up the contrast has an effect.

Congrats on a great scope! I think you are going to love it!

I have the IR Hunter MK3 60mm and don't have that clear of picture. Wonder if I should send it in?

Double Naught Spy’s mk-3 60mm looks really good ...

Ill let you know if my image improves after I receive the scope back.

My gripe on image is that 2 of 3 of the white and black hot levels are of no use - they are way overexposed or washed out .

Detail on the animal itself is just so so.

I'd like 2 or 3 scopes to all jump in a bag that I shake and poof when I open that bag the 1 perfect scope emerges - yeah its a fantasy but it's my fantasy!

Congratulations on the upgrade! I got my MK II about 4 years ago and have not regretted it once. You will really enjoy it once you get the kinks worked out.

Well... Trijicon sent me an email that they were returning my scope with no changes made, said it is working as it should.

I’m not happy about this because I know for a fact it isn’t working as it should be and provided them a video in advance to view of the problem.

I’ve asked the dealer who sold me the scope to engage with them on my behalf ....

What a difference a day can make ......... hammer

Trijicon emailed me this morning saying the core is being replaced on this unit .........:

No additional information received as to what changed from yesterday’s communication.

Maybe your dealer did get ahold of them on your behalf. However it happened, that’s good to hear.

Yep, whatever the reason, it sounds like the results are good!

I am using a REAP-IR and it has been tremendous. I don't know how many hogs I have killed with it but it is a large #.

Received the scope back today - works 100% better than it was and looks excellent.

I’m glad Triji and Europotics made this right !
