Try the NSTRA. Website . They once held the National Endurance trial up there A couple of members bought land up there. I remember that Maggie and John Parsley stayed after one trial and had a couple of successful hunts.

Get on the Montana game and fish site. Check out their block mgt program..private land opens to the public. There are blocks around Lewistown. There is also state land that is managed and opened to bird hunting. We hunted a mgt block several years ago and had a good time. You had to make a reservation to hunt..they manage the pressure too. You could hunt on your own if you do your homework.

Take your lovely wife and make a round trip. Come back through Yellowstone headed to Jackson Hole. You will see the Grand Tetons to the west. That alone was the most memorable thing of the trip for me.

Awesome picture Bill! up Did you take it? confused2 I've taken that same drive a couple of times in my life. The first time when I was in my twenties. I have said ever since the first time, that I don't understand how anybody can look at the Grand Tetons and still say "There is no God."

I'll take that as a "no".

We did that same loop last summer, it was a great trip. I mentioned going up there alone in September, with the dogs. I got a little rebuttal in return. May wait til next year, wife should be done with the part time work after this school year.

Thanks for the replies all!

Nolan Huffman, BeeLine Brittanys. 828 443 5884
Highly recommend. Great dogs and hunting areas

6X Outfitters, Al Gadoury. Can’t say I would recommend him.

Thanks Bill
Yes Rusty was a great one and feel honored to have hunted with him for several years l

I’m a long time lurker and first time poster. Really enjoy the conversation and have hunted in north Texas for the last 4 years. Finally got a lease and wouldn’t you know things are not looking good this year. 😩

Thanks for the tip SLG62. You should feel very fortunate that you had birds to hunt in North Texas the last 3 seasons. Not many people did.

I see that you are from Georgia. Correct me if I'm wrong Nolan placed three dogs first, second, and third in the first Quail Forever notional trial held on a plantation in Georgia.

Pretty sure you are correct.

He had a long string of wins and just won another up north, I think it was in Montana.

Great guy. My hunts with him are alway the highlight of the year.

MT will spoil you, lots of public land and ranchers that will stop and give you directions to their homestead to hunt for free

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE
