To get my dogs on some wild quail. We didn't find a single wild bird last year. Guided a great pen raised hunt and did a small pen raised bird training "hunt" but that was it. I have one pup that will be a year old at the start of season and a pup that is 4 weeks old now so he'll be 6 months old in December.

Hunt wild birds with my Pudelpointer at least 45 days. Assure doe harvest is adequate where I deer hunt. Hunt whitetail hard during this he rut. Depending on how he finishes out, there is a particular 7 yr old whitetail buck I want to try to get a good look at on the hoof. Squeeze in as many waterfowl hunts with the Pudelpointer as I can when the birds are around.
Find enough time to keep my wife off my [censored] and don’t catch the Corona.
Edit to add: make a few good dove hunts and teal hunts in September to get things kicked off.

My primary hunting
goal is to get well over this quadruple bypass I just had well enough to be able to hunt even if it means just sitting in a blind waiting for a WT or a hog.

Get well soon! You have plenty of time before that first weekend in November.

Take an axis or two for meat.

See an increase in whitetail population. Last year was depressing after the anthrax hit

2 does and at least 1 hog for the freezer. Should be an obtainable goal.

As I've gotten older I guess my only goal is being healthy enough to continue to go hunting and just being able to sit in a blind, watch the sun rise and the woods come to life as daybreak nears.
I'm more into watching than killing, but last year on the next to the last day of the season I took a nice buck that I had not seen the entire season.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Pretty simple this year: Enjoy and embrace every minute I can in God's great outdoors.
1.Spend as much time hunting with my son who has Myelofibrosis since COVID has delayed his stemcell transplant. We just got a new lease bordered on 3 sides by the Salt Fork of the Brazos. Excited to do a lot of looking and TC photo reviewing. Hog target rich too.
2. Spend some days deer hunting in E. TX with my 79 yr old Dad. Last several years I've been going to be him on opening gun day instead of my leases
3. AZ friend and I drew special draw cow elk tags late muzzleload season AZ, so plan to meet up at his cabin for a hunt

I'm just hoping my wife can make it out more this year than last. Miss her in the blind...most of the time!

My hunting goals have distilled to simply this: to experience as much wonder as I did that first hunting season all those years ago.

A tall order, to be sure...but I'm regularly successful at it. Hope you are, too...

Mark

I need to add another goal - to begin the process of teaching my grandson how to shoot better than his dad (my son-in-law). My grandson is 8, and I think he's already done most of the work himself. rofl

Do a bit better than last year. Ate 3 tags out west. Have 4 for this year. The first two of which start in two weeks.

Freezer is looking sad.

I’ve finally got me a compound bow, talked about it for a few years..

1. Get my daughter into the 130’s with her rifle

2. Get me a legal buck w bow

But as long as I get to go with my daughter, I don’t really care if I get anything

Never thought that deep about hunting or any hobby really. Just like fishing, I have no "goals" when I go out I just want to fish. Pretty simple. I have enough goals and such to hit at work, I don't want any for enjoyable activities.
