I've emailed smith before with good results. Not super fast but not too bad either.

I've emailed smith before with good results. Not super fast but not too bad either. This is a good idea. Also, Smith has a forum like this one with many knowledgeable members. You might post there and get some help. Good luck!

If you ever come down this way, I have some 38 SW ammo that you're welcome to. About 45 rounds. Just north of San Antonio.

Is the serial number on the but ? Yes it is, 6 didgit all numbers, no letter prefix or postfix

As stated above, Smith & Wesson has a forum dedicated to their pistols and there are LOTS of knowledgeable people there. For a quick answer I would post there. For the final word though, I would email S&W. They should have record of what the gun looked like when it shipped and to whom they shipped it. Good luck! That's a very fine pistol you have there.
