I have several from 22-250 to 338 win. which is a beautiful rifle... None in the full stock ... They are great shooters, and the double set trigger is the mutts nuts. I have double sets on all but one that is 30-06 All are very accurate.

After eating Payne's sausage I don't know if I can go back to the regular store bought stuff.

Beautiful rifle, why does it look rippled where the action meets the barrel? Stock in one pic, barrel in multiple...

Factory "twisted hammer forged barrels" - I've got 1 in 30-06 with set trigger, standard stock configuration

My father had one but some [censored] broke into our house while we were on vacation, if I remember right they stole 13 firearms, including my first shotgun, rifle, etc.

Those "ripples" are from the cold hammer forging process Steyr used to rifle their barrels.

This brings back a lot of memories: I had a Steyr Luxus in .270 very, very similar to this one. Mine had a single set trigger...I would have preferred the double sets. I nicknamed the rifle "Rollender Donner"..."Rolling Thunder" in German. That little carbine was LOUD, and if you used powder a wee bit too slow burning, you got an impressive muzzle blast!

It's a factory trademark to show that it's a hammer forged barrel. They were made post 1970

for every stereotype there's a prototype

I've got one in .243 that will get a new home at some point. I don't have a magazine for it and the magwell is cracked if I remember correctly. It's a plastic piece and part of the trigger guard if I'm thinking right. I haven't looked at it in a bit. But it looks similar to the one pictured here.

There is a place in Alabama I think that's where that has spare parts. I have a box full in the event I need them.
