Well, sorta mini. CVA Optima pistol with 14” barrel. Mounted a Burris 2-7x32 scope on it. Hoping a couple of Oklahoma deer will be experiencing the business end at the end of October. I love handgun hunting, so this is like Christmas in July.

We all get to define what we call a M/L. To me an "in-line" is not a M/L.

Actually each state defines M/L different.
Straight from Oklahoma is not legal in other states.
So.

I have vowed to never own an inline....so I have to sort of relate to the previous comments concerning muzzleloaders. I have recently though had the urge to mess around some with a longer barreled pistol, so I ordered a Pedersoli Bounty Hunter to play with....and maybe even do some hunting with. It comes with a barrel just over 16" and is in .50 caliber....but is a traditional type of side lock. I'll probably end up out hunting hogs with it !

So. Since the OP talks specifically about hunting in Oklahoma, the law would apply during Muzzle loading season for deer, elk or bear. That being said, that looks like a sweet weapon to get the job done.

It will serve you well, a great choice. Dead is dead, regardless if you shoot it with an inline or a traditional.

I have the CVA Pistol as well. Its a blast to shoot (pun intended). Haven't killed anything with it yet, but it shoots very well to 50 yards with the Leupold Red Dot that I installed on it. It is a hand cannon in every since of the word.
Pay no attention to the anti-inline guys. I have a Northwest legal ML with open sights that I use if I hunt Colorado, Idaho, Washington, etc. I have the CVA that I will probably carry for hogs and a backup for my muzzleloader hunts this fall (NM and AZ). I will be hauling around a CVA Paramount for those hunts though.

There should be some manner where someone could load an arrow down the bore of something and claim they were bow hunting.......I'd guess the traditional bow hunters would take offense at that as well. Lots of folks just look for any advantage they can take, instead of hunting in the primitive manner that the season was started for. Somehow I don't consider an inline that shoots a plastic enclosed jacketed bullet....using a scoped rifle that will shoot for 100's of yards as a primitive weapon.

Do you really think an inline pistol, even scoped, has that significant of an advantage on a full sized percussion or flintlock rifle? I'm willing to bet the velocity (and energy) lost coupled with the added difficulty of stability make it just as challenging-- but in a different manner than your choice. Really getting tired of the "trad muzzleloaders" crapping on everyone else-- I agree there should probably be a "TRAD muzzy" season that limits the range..or hell even just make it open sights only for any muzzleloader. What you need to remember is that when YOUR eyesight starts to go it's going to be you that will be excluded and your only option at that point will be a scoped rifle... OR don't hunt.

OR don't hunt. of muzzleloader, Archery, long bow, recurve, compound, & recently crossbow all legal... i used compound, @ full draw holding less lbs, have very much respect for those shooting traditional... Way more challenging. Big difference between target - 3D & live target... Had ta quit archery because of shoulders, so see your point.. 70's first deer rifle was me Kentucky .45 ... Here MN could use it during slug shot gun season. Not sure whin the in-lines became popular, very few use shot gun with slug now days... Personally prefer traditional, it does limit range, & with age, me eyes limit it more. As far as your comment : Realy getting tired of the "trad muzzleloaders" crapping on everyone else 1st Amendment... ta Old Stony... Learned me shooting with old single shot .22 pump, with .22 short had dig out after each shot.. Ya learn ta make first shot count... ta OP have ya tried it out on a hog hunt yet ? keep us informed...

From a "Traditionalist", that is not a M/L So do you use a matchlock or a flintlock? Smoothbore or rifled? Do you make your own powder and cast balls over a campfire? Where do we draw the line?
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Unfortunately some folks don't understand the meaning of "traditional muzzleloading hunting". They will shoot modern bullets using plastic sabots, use scopes and any little modern advantage they can muster. Us folks that shoot in traditional methods will continue to enjoy a hunt in the manner it was actually meant to be.

Us folks that shoot in traditional methods will continue to enjoy a hunt in the manner it was actually meant to be. Again- the OP is placing himself at a greater disadvantage by choosing a BP pistol. Probably more so than even a traditional rifle. So why do you so called “traditionalists” insist on derailing every muzzleloader thread on THF?!?? Don’t you guys have some other entire forum where you can go lament inlines, the combustion engine, modern medicine and the like???

Seems you have a problem with tradition, no one else is allowed to have an opinion.
