Almost 3 months after sending it in under warranty for image issues. The sent my unit back with full explanation of issue and repair.

“Performed bench test. Verified the customers concern. Disassembled unit to gain access for testing. Found the FLCOS display has sustained physical damage resulting in very poor image quality and an intermittent display condition.”

“Removed and replaced the FLCOS display assembly. Re- installed all components that were removed during service.”

More verbiage regarding resealing, image now visible, firmware, etc.

Seems to be working. Re-installed it on the rifle and will sight it in this weekend and hope for the best......

Forgot- no explanation regarding damage to the sensor. It’s never been dropped or banged against anything...

Sure sounds like it failed due to recoil or something similar.

Glad they got it repaired for you...stinks it took that long to get it repaired though. With covid crap I understand everything has been pretty slow going

I’ve probably shot close to 50 pigs and a dozen or so coyotes with it and it was on a DD 6.8 so the recoil isn’t bad at all. I hope for no more problems.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you got it and they at least told you what they did to it. Good luck with it this go round and hopefully it will do you well.

Glad you got it back.

3 months turn around? That is ATN kind of timing.

Update- got the 536 sighted back in last weekend and got a chance to try it out last night after feeding the cows. I went to my bigger field around 8 and got set up in the box. About 15 minutes later a single boar showed up at the feeder that’s right at 180 yards southwest of the blind. I shot and his front legs folded, then he careened off through the woods. I could see him zig-zagging and his tail was twirling and then I lost him. After about another 30 minutes 3 more showed up from the East and I popped the lead one, squealing and flailing and then one of them came running straight at me and I folded it up in the field about 75 yards from the blind. The others disappeared into the woods. Then about 9:15 a big boar came in the south end of the field and was walking towards the blind. When he got about a hundred yards out he turned and I shot him and he took off, I took another shot, then he got to the edge of the field and I Texas heart shot him- and the FLIR cut off. <Big sigh>. I gathered up the one in front and didn’t spend much time looking for the other two in the thick stuff. This morning I was discing the field and found the last (big) one- 2 steps past the south fence. So I wrapped the strap around his leg and hauled him off with the tractor. He was stout and had nice cutters.
So I’m pleased the image quality issue was fixed, but it still bugs me that the thing turns off sometimes if you have multiple shots. May be time to sell the FLIR and get a Thermion.

For the powering off issue, see if you can cut a couple of thin shims and place them inside the battery compartment to put MORE tension on the batteries when the cap is put on.

I’ve heard from a couple of guys that work in the biz that CR123s have variance in their lengths and as such you’ll sometimes experience a loss of power due to loss of connection in the battery compartment.

Nothing too substantial you just want a bit of positive force on the batteries poles...

I know it's not quite the same but I have a couple Armasight Zeus 3-24x75. On my primary shooting Zeus I've probably put somewhere north of 10,000 rounds through two 6.8's using it without an issue. Now my second zeus that rarely gets mounted to a rifle and is primarily used for scanning is another story. It would loose focus whenever it was shot and just didn't seem to have as clear as picture as the other one. Turned out it had a loose eyepiece focus ring. A little disassemble/reassembly and it's never had an issue since. I've had them 5 years and after a couple software upgrades they work better than the day I got them.

Yes! FLIR used to actually suggest taking a piece of thin soft foam and putting it under the battery lid.

Also, take your pocket knife and cut the battery wrapper off the flat/negative end of the battery. You'll likely find a thin plastic washer under the wrapper and remove it. That thin spacer can cause nightmares for different flashlights, scopes or other electronics that use 123A batteries.

If you do those two things I'd be pretty surprised if it cuts off while shooting. It definitely sounds like it's loosing good contact for a millisecond and then it's shutting off.
