I am thinking of buying a couple of the 600lb EZ feeders that ASF makes or the Game Winner brand for my land. I have cows on the land. Do I need to fence the feeders if cows are present? I really want to feed the auodad and hogs I have on the property as well. Just don’t wanna spend $700 on feeders and have the cows smash them up. Any thoughts or tips?

If I were in the market for a feeder the only one I'd buy is a Ramball feeder.

IF you are going with those feeders you mentioned, I would absolutely fence off the feeders. Cows will demolish them if they get a taste of the corn. Those feeders are very “flimsy” and not super solid/heavy when close to empty. They rely on the corn mass to keep it solid to the ground.

I second the above recommendation, if you are looking for something essentially cow proof, ramballs feeders are top
Notch, much heavier duty than the EZ or anything gamewinner, and will do a much better job without a fence. Not saying they couldn’t be knocked over or something, but ramballs feeders have a lower center of gravity, heavier, sturdier metal, and will just serve you better. But they cost more. So pick your poison.

Where would I find those at? I can’t seem to find any information on Ramball Feeders.

From what I have seen, the Ramball feeders are stout. I have personal experience with Lamco and I just love them. Very sturdy. Tack down the skids w/rebar stakes and you should be fine in the environment you described. A little bit more, but on sale right now for $750.

Jethro had one with no pen and never complained of any difficulty and at that time, our cows were super hungry. This is a fairly heavy duty instrument.

My son in law has two of these on his place that also has cattle and over run with hogs at certain times of the year ... no issues. These are built in Brownwood (Early) TX and have dealers all around the state. Very solid design, good craftsmanship and come ready to fill with corn. This would be what I will be using in the future as I need to replace other feeders.

You don’t have to pen Ramball’s feeders around cows. They’ll come and typically don’t stay real long because there isn’t any corn piled up anywhere, it slings the heck out of it.

If I was shopping for feeders today, I’d call Ramball and get it done.

Spot on. I have 2 of Ramball's feeders just like the picture. Cows don't mess with them. No fence around mine.

EZ feeder legs are a little flimsy, if the feeder has a lot of corn in it. Empty, they'll just push it around. The all steal Game Winner feeders have very stout legs on them. I wish all feeders had the same types of legs. If you stake down the feet on the Game Winner or legs on the EZ feeder, they likely won't move at all.

The bucees EZ feeder is strong than it looks. Drug mine 3/4 full with a tow straps around the legs about 60 yards (mesquite flat with fairly soft ground)

Another vote for Ramball's feeders. I have 3 of them and wouldn't trade them. Heavy duty as they come.

If you want stout Ramball, pretty sure you could hit with a pick up and just hurt the pickup. I have 2 of his.


Lamco are a good second option only bad is the lids can blow off if not fastened correctly. So be extra caution on the lids.

Put a tpost on each side of the Buc-ee’s feeder and you’ll have no issues
