The '86 Bronco needs an inspection this month. No place in Junction is doing inspections "'cause of the Covid" (and I quote). There may be a place in Menard, but I'm not keen on driving all over in 108° heat with no a/c. If I let it lapse, will the state keep my license renewal open/pending until I finally get it done? (Looks like I'll be changing my own oil too, for the first time in about 25 years. )

I don't believe vehicle inspection and license renewal has anything to do with one another if that's what you're asking. Also they're waiving needed vehicle inspections depending on county

Vehicle inspection only has to be done prior to vehicle registration. Drivers license renewal should not be affected.

Sorry guys! I mean registration renewal, as in "license plates". My apologies. When my older brother (by 11 years and 4 months) failed his first driving test and was laying in bed pitching a fit, I thought he needed a license plate, so I went and got one of Dad's old ones and took it to him. Pretty adorable, if I do say so myself, but (as pretty much always), he was not amused.

They will not issue new license plate tags without proof of insurance.
Also when all of that is done your tags will only be good for one year from the month they originally expired.

No problem getting an inspection here. Been going to same inspection station for years. That guy isn’t gonna close, it’s all he does for a living.
Can’t get tag renewal here without an inspection.
