I was supposed to fill my feeders tomorrow. 110 degrees at the lease site means I'm staying home in the A/C instead.

I hear ya'. I'm headed out around 8:15 p.m. to bait one trap and check the OinKer Corral to make sure nothing came in during the day. Then it's back for a shower and reading with the A/C set at 69 (my favorite number) degrees. Setting my alarm for 5am to get my butt out there before it gets brutal. Setting up a trap I got for free in my neighborhood. My first experiment with diesel and corn. I'm sick to death of catching plumb pissed-off WT does. 'Didn't let my previous mix sour long enough.

I decided I just couldn't handle that level of heat, particularly since there's not much breeze blowin' through the relay station, so I decide to pick another site, around the bone yard, that's open to the breeze, and see if I could pick up a scavenging coyote. I tossed a bit of corn around to cover all the bases, even though I rarely see piggies at this site. Took my .223, and settled in with my best "wounded rabbit" call whistling away. 20 minutes later I caught eyes out beyond the bone pile, switched to lip squeaking, and squeaked til my sun burned lips hurt. The eyes disappeared. Settled back down and this little pig showed up, possibly to visit some old relatives. Popped it between the eyes, chunked it into the bone pile, and headed for the A/C!

You know, they used to use the hot box for errant prisoners. Glad you made a better choice! Good job!

Are those solar panels? Bring a fan, for sure! Maybe install a refrigerator, eh?

Keep After 'Em! Those are solar panels. I'd like to bring a fan, a refrigerator and a kiddies wading pool with a 10 pound block of ice in it. But all that set-up for one 15 pound piglet just ain't worth it imho

Yes, I heard that the Japanese used "hot boxes" to punish those folks who didn't tow the line; and I remember that the ones they used were enclosed on all sides. Miserable. My situation is self-imposed torture and I can and will walk away from it when I want to!

(In the shade of the barn porch.) I relinquish the field to the pigs and the coons. Cheers.

In the blind now. It’s 106. I have a Ryobi 18vt fan, iced tea, Power Aid, and water. Since yesterday evening I’ve killed 2 coyotes and a sow pig. So hot I only cut off the hind quarters and called it good. Did some target shooting this morning. Been a good get away even with the heat.

All you lack is a nice single-malt and a big ol' Maduro stogie! Good hunting!

Yep, this time of the year I get up early, work 'til about 10 or 10:30, then inside until 7 or 7:30 if there are chores to do. The good news - 6 weeks 'til dove season!

About the only thing I want to hunt this time of year at my lease, is the nearest camper with a stout A/C unit on max.
