The last couple of days I shredded pasture after pasture, but figured this dry weather would slow the grass down a bit, which is sorta good news. But today we got an inch and a half of rain and I could almost hear the grass shout with happiness. I wanted rain, but didn’t want rain. Oh, well, I don’t get a vote anyway. I think my yard Roadrunner is drying off. Or, this may be his aggressive look. “Gonna kick your weenie b___”!

Bill, I wish I could send you some. We have had 8-1/2" since Fathers Day and mid week when we mowed the tires were wet every where we went. My garden is a mud hole, having to wear muck boots to pick the beans and purple hull peas. But it beats having to water. Hope y'all get some rain soon.

we have a mating pair of yard roadrunners ... yesterday, we were in the back yard with a kids wading pool for the 4 & 2 y/o grandsons to cool off. We see the male roadrunner hop up on the chainlink fence, then fly up into some of the big live oaks in the back yard about 10-15 yards away. I started hearing this weird noise and my wife asked what the heck it was. I said must be that roadrunner. I grabbed my cell phone and switched it over to video mode to try to capture the sounds he was making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyOAkbkMK30&feature=youtu.behe hung around up in those big oak trees for a good 10-15 minutes, roaming around out each of the larger branches, then back to the center clump. He ended up out on one dead limb like a hunting perch for a few minutes, then jumped up and flew 10-15 feet to a different tree, then sailed out towards the east, over the fence to the ground and took off running with something in his mouth, lizard or mouse??? anyway, in case other's haven't heard the chattering noise a roadrunner makes, he does it several times on the video. I thought it was pretty cool.

We've been getting some rain every week or two, all Summer.
We are due though.

It dried up long enough for me to do a little mowing, then the fire ants struck. May finish tomorrow. As my good friend Margret Mitchell says, "I'll study about that tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow is another day."

It started raining a gully washer without warning a little over an hour ago. 20 minutes into my daily walk. And 20 minutes away from the car.
Accuweather isnt very accurate.
