Looking at a place to purchase on Saturday that is south of Bronte about 8 miles off of 277. I have NO experience in or around the area, but the deal seems right.

Any advice, observations, input (Good & Bad please) about the deer hunting in the area?

.Call the local tpwd biologist & game warden. You can get a lot of info from them, especially the biologist. I always talk to the local biologist before I buy in an area.

Lots of smaller places in the area of 15 - 70 or so acres, real easy to end up with 4 - 8 neighbors on one fence line depending on size of the place you're considering.
Be sure to look the area over closely on a good satellite map.

Parts of the county have way too many hunters for the acreage, other parts more reasonable.

Just me, in between Bronte & Tennyson I'd want at least 300 acres per hunter unless the river is very near or runs through the property.

From your other threads about land purchases, seems you're all over the map, what exactly are you looking for / priorities?

Example;
biggest bucks close to metro mess, inexpensive land with deer on it, a place to build on, etc...

Lots of deer...some hogs if you've got water and turkey.

Lots of deer as long as it hasn't been hunted out. Im pushing 20 years of hunting that county on 2 different places and I have never seen what I would call a true trophy in person or on camera in that county except behind a high fence. I have seen lots of respectable deer though. Know the neighbors before you buy. Hunting pressure is everything out that way!

This is my buck from 2018 in Coke. He is by far the biggest I have ever seen or killed out there.

Hunted Bronte 20 years ago. Lots of deer on our place. Never saw anything over 125 class.

Well, i am in Coke County, but a bit further West. Lots of deer out there in our area, but you will prolly never get one that hits 110+.

One the other hand, I have had them line up where I could damn near fill my tag with one shot

If the area doesn't have a lot of small tracts of less than 100 acres you should have plenty of deer, but trophies are far less than likely to be seen. My theory is if the price is right and I like the area, that means it has potential. A location that is convenient for a weekend trip will become a big factor during the season. ,
