Just so ya know, gators are in just about any body of water in southeast Texas. Green belts and drainage ditches here in Katy, TX are prime habitat. These are heavily populated areas in town. Lots of folks take their dogs for walks in these area. I would highly recommend dogs be on leash at all times as an encounter may not end well.


This guy was almost 10’ in a drainage ditch in Katy. I believe the larger gators, being territorial, spread the population down the creek. Early spring cool temp and water still cold was only reason I could get close enough for a pic.

They've made it up rivers just south, like 10 miles, of San Antonio from time to time. Private club of duck hunting doctors and lawyers don't take too kindly to see them emerge behind their high-dollar retrievers.

There are gators well up into Arkansas and Oklahoma. I would say any body of water south of there has the potential for gators.

Gators have been in that stretch of water even before the "Goat Man."
